Hi, new thread x

Namsnanny Mon 06-Jan-20 23:49:31

Flutterby1 … I cant do sunflowers either. Here are some other flowers for you! flowers

Yes your right there, too much unoccupied time does leave space for the thoughts to race, either known or unknown thoughts.

I think that's why reading and listening to books helps so much.
Craft also, occupies the hands.

And of course typing on here! smile

A goodnight to you as well Joce35

Peace to you Anniebach … your experience must have been so frightening.
So brave and kind of you to speak of them with such openness.

Enjoy your audio books. Sleep well. flowers

Joce345 Mon 06-Jan-20 23:29:48

Flutterbyl bless you. I will give Annie a sunflower for you. This is for Annie from flutterbyl ?
Good night all sleep ? well God Bless

Flutterby1 Mon 06-Jan-20 22:16:14

Annie and Namsnanny I think during festive season I was in the here and now so no negative thoughts.
I also think too much time doing very little gives your mind a partytime with all sorts of thoughts.
Annie you never seem to amaze me with what you have come through and still you manage to gain the strength from somewhere. You don’t have things easy yet you are still here helping others and I certainly thank you for that.
If I knew how to give you some sunflowers I would give them in bucket fulls but don’t know how to.
Thanks again friends
Wishing you all a good nights sleep. Night night xxx

flutterby may I suggest when it starts try to think what or if
there was a thought.

For years I panicked when snow was mentioned, weather forecast gave ‘snow expected in Scotland’ and my stomach
churned, when it was forecast for Wales my anxiety soared.

I wouldn’t wear white, even my wedding gown was deep cream. This went on for a long time. When I was in a
Psychiatric unit a year after my husband died , January and it
snowed, I panicked. It was suggested i saw a psychologist privately, I did. There were talking sessions then he suggested
hypnotherapy.

He recorded the session, I went under , he asked me to see snow , I panicked and cried, he said what’s is happening , what can you see, feel. I won’t bore you all longer with this, but the snow falling was the tip in my home village, it was going to cover my children, me.

He explained nothing black comes from the sky but my mind
linked falling snow with falling coal sludge.

This seems rather dramatic and I apologise , but I am explaining how our mind can play tricks on us.

So I think it is worth trying to recall what your thought was before the stomach started to churn/feel like a brick, it doesn’t have to be a frightening thought, make a note of it. It could
be something someone else says.

I had a doze this afternoon, woke feeling anxiety stirring, the room had gone colder, it links doesn’t it?

Namsnanny Mon 06-Jan-20 21:28:56

Flutterby1 … I don't get the feeling from no where, its usually connected to a past feeling or perhaps a word or smell.

It must be awful to get it out of the blue like that. I wonder if there is something in the past that is nudging you and you have yet to recognise the trigger?

Its interesting that when you were busy and I presume happy (if not happy then content?) over Christmas time you didn't suffer isn't it?
Possibly your mind was too full of the here and now, or you were just to worn out to think of anything else! Who knows.

Such clever words Anniebach smile

Flutterby1 Mon 06-Jan-20 21:15:45

Annie the horrid knot in my tum was almost non existent during the festive season. Did get wee bit anxious at times but managed to control it. Thanks for asking.
Joyce I know how awful that feeling is I hate it.
People often say it is a churning, knot or butterfly’s but I refer to mine as a dull ache. A good expression I read from Dr.Weekes was that it can feel like a horses hoof pressing on your middle.

Question - does anyone all of a sudden get a feeling of anxiety out of the blue for no apparent reason. Is that just a memory thing.
Thanks and love to all xx

Joce345 Mon 06-Jan-20 19:07:21

Flutterbyl hope the knot in your tummy is better than mine, err will not go away today.
Lovely’s poem Annie..

Anniebach Mon 06-Jan-20 18:27:22

Hi all x

How is everyone?

I like the following poem from ‘The Poetry Pharmacy’

I wish I could show you,
When you are lonely or In darkness,
The Astonishing Light,
Of your own Being’,

Joce345 Mon 06-Jan-20 09:44:15

Morning all, how are you feeling this morning Annie...
hope everyone else are ok, have a good day all.

Namsnanny Mon 06-Jan-20 02:53:43

So sorry your feeling down about the internet Anniebach, it must be very frustrating waiting for them to sort it.
I'm glad you're enjoying your audio books, being read to is very comforting don't you think?

I agree with you Joce345 books do help.

Doodle … I can empathise with your Sunday evening feelings.

look after yourselves.

Joce345 Sun 05-Jan-20 23:06:02

I love to read it really does help with the anxiety. I like my audio books, but do love to hold a book.. I am sure you would love to hold them Annie if it was not for your hands... good night all sleep ? well God bless..

Anniebach Sun 05-Jan-20 22:03:38

I loved Sunday evenings when a child, went to Chapel, then reading a book with my Mum, a chapter in turn.

My audio books are most enjoyable, I am listening to
Wuthering Heights now. Listened to Jane Eyre, so think next book will be a Thomas Hardy. My love for English Lit comes from my Mum, my love of poetry from my Dad.

Doodle Sun 05-Jan-20 21:42:22

Get ready for bed not eat!

Doodle Sun 05-Jan-20 21:41:51

Thanks annie. You are so kind to care.
I hated school (not with any reason really. I was not bullied, I just didn’t like it) so Sunday evening was always a worrying time for me. I used to watch the old Robin Hood on the TV. The one with Richard Greene. When the credits rolled at the end and the music played it meant I had to eat ready for bed and school the following day. It has always made me feel low. I usually go to bed early and read.
How are you doing annie. Are you still listening to your audio books?
Hope everyone has a good sleep tonight x

Anniebach Sun 05-Jan-20 21:31:06

So sorry Doodle , Sunday is a day of different routine perhaps?

Doodle Sun 05-Jan-20 21:25:33

Hi rafichagran. I have Sunday blues too. Sunday evenings have always been a low point for me so I understand. You will probably feel better Monday morning. Hope your day at work is ok. Try and sleep early tonight. x
Hello all. Hope you are ok.

Anniebach Sun 05-Jan-20 21:09:09

rafichagran. If I may ask, is your job making you anxious?

Joyce I will phone them tomorrow but I think the chap who said 7th made an error.

rafichagran Sun 05-Jan-20 20:55:50

Hello everyone. I hope you are feeling a little better. I was more upbeat, but have to return to work tommorow, so I feel quite anxious. I am not working full time now as I took partial retirement 6 months ago. This is better for me but the anxiety comes back to haunt me on Sundays.

I am sorry you feel low Annie and to all the others who have given good advice I hope things are bearable for you.

Joce345 Sun 05-Jan-20 20:54:48

Aww dear Annie hope you are ok, that’s bad luck for you.. every thing seem to take for ever these day.. you could maybe give them a ring tomorrow and ask why!! I don’t know about you but seems they are good at saying one thing then say another...

Anniebach Sun 05-Jan-20 19:53:18

Hi all x

BlueSky Sun 05-Jan-20 09:21:42

Good morning all. How heart warming to come on here and read an understanding word from kind people when you need it most! Your support is greatly appreciated! cafe

Doodle Sat 04-Jan-20 23:06:17

You too annie. ?.
I’ve had such support and good wishes on this thread.
I like to pop in last thing at night before I go to bed, just to see if everyone’s ok and to make sure there’s a kind word for anyone who needs it. Just like you have done so many times for me.
Sleep well my friends x

Anniebach Sat 04-Jan-20 16:45:14
