Hello, there. New here from the UK. There are many types of stress both mental and physical. Examples of mental illness include depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, eating disorders and addictive behaviors. Mental illness can make you miserable and can cause problems in your daily life, such as at school or work or in relationships. In most cases, symptoms can be managed with a combination of medications and talk therapy (psychotherapy). Looking forward to this group.

There are a huge range of illnesses both mental and physical.
What you describe could have a physical cause or be a symptom of a mental health condition but a forum isn't the place for a diagnosis.
Please speak to a medical professional..

BrentFoust forgive me if I'm wrong, but is English not your first language? Are you resident in the UK? If so, you are able to access local GP services free of charge.

Why should it be a mental illness? It sounds more like a physical illness to me. As everybody else says: Go and see your GP and get a proper diagnosis.

I am sure that if your do that, the worry about your condition will be lifted from your mind and you will be able to address getting well again, but , please, go and see your GP.

I have severe mental illness, reading your post BrentFoust, it sounds like you are making a cry for help, perhaps you have other symptoms? Regardless, you are worried, so go and see your GP, and seek professional help. You are welcome to message me if you are still worried. If you are scared that your doctor will section you etc., it won't happen. They will sort any physical problems, and offer counselling.

Mental illness and physical illness often go together. Being depressed can lead to suppressed appetite and a desire to lock yourself away. Physical illness can also lead to feeling low . What is hard in your situation, is summoning the energy to do something about it.

If you can go to the GP and explain your physical symptoms, he should order a series of blood tests. I hope you will be able to act on this but know it a big thing to do when you feel so down. If no physical cause is found, he may be able to prescribe something to restore your appetite and low mood.

This is an impossible question the answer could be yes the answer could be no see a doctor to discuss your fears
Your very simple question about a very complex problem cannot and should not be answered on here by amateurs

BradfordLass72 Sat 02-Nov-19 07:25:58

mumofmadboys yes, I agree but they are not an "indication" - in other words, if you have a physical symptom, it doesn't mean you are mentally ill. Which is what this poster implies.

mumofmadboys Fri 01-Nov-19 07:45:08

Physical symptoms are quite common in mental illness

Peonyrose Fri 01-Nov-19 05:40:06

I would say no to your question. Go to your doctor, it could be a number of things band easily sorted, but you need to professional help.

BlueBelle Fri 01-Nov-19 05:03:56

It looks as if you are a new poster so welcome
The only person who can answer your question is a professional who can see and talk to you,
No one on here can have a clue by a two sentence introduction
Good luck

Physical symptoms are rarely an indication of a mental illness and you obviously are interacting !

SalsaQueen Thu 31-Oct-19 13:27:31

Have you been tested for any Thyroid problems? You say you're tired, but if you're not eating much, that will surely mean that you haven't got much energy, so are likely to be tired.

I don't know about you having a mental illness (only a doctor could say), but you clearly aren't physically well.

Unusual name...are you a genuine poster?

Please see you GP and let us know how that goes.

wildswan16 Thu 31-Oct-19 13:05:18

Go and ask your GP. We cannot and should not try and diagnose you.

fizzers Thu 31-Oct-19 12:57:57

Could be anything causing tiredness and lack of appetite, you need to see your GP so he can do the relevant tests.

EllanVannin Thu 31-Oct-19 10:57:28

It's not that " severe " that you can interact on here but it wouldn't be a bad idea to get checked out.

GrannySquare Thu 31-Oct-19 10:02:56

From last two months I have lost significant weight. I eat very less and I have stop interacting with people. I feel tired all the time even after adequate sleep. Am I suffering from mental illness?
