Birdwatcher4. So you've got Ocular Rosacea? Is it on your face? I ask as I've had Rosacea (face and upper chest) for 30 years, but haven't had the problem with my eyes. Shouldn't you perhaps ask your GP/Specialist?

Alexa yes I have all that info I have a leaflet saved in my favorites from Moorfield eye hospital on Blepharits very informative sorry can't add the link but if you google it you will find it ? they mention the sterile eyelid wipes which I find has kept my dry eyes much better along with eye drops once a day .... the Blepharits took ages to clear the mask really helped and daily lid hygiene .

Is the link to where I gor my info. "scrub" is too vigorous. Rather wipe.

Just been thinking Birdwatcher, the rosacea could perhpas be caused by germs from the blepharitis. And now the blepharitis is cleared up the rosacea will get better without any special treatment. Plenty water to drink and vitamin C perhpas.

PS I'd use cut up small squares of old tee shirt as it's cotton that has been made fine and soft with a lot of washing, and then I'd boil the squares after each use

"A clean washcloth, or Q-tip
Warm water
Baby shampoo
What to Do
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
Soak a clean washcloth in warm water.
Apply a small amount of baby shampoo to the washcloth.
Close one eye and gently rub the base of your eyelashes with the warm washcloth, being careful to rub the entire area. Do this for one minute. (A Q-tip may be used in place of the washcloth, a gentler option if you have marked inflammation.)
Carefully rinse your entire eyelid with clean, cool water.
Repeat with your other eye, using a clean washcloth.
Useful Tips
Your eye doctor may recommend performing an eyelid scrub two or three times each day to help alleviate your symptoms.
Some eye doctors may suggest an over-the-counter cleansing agent to use in place of baby shampoo.
Always use a clean washcloth for each eye to avoid spreading germs or bacteria from one eye to the other."

i have heard of baby shampoo before as a face wash that doesn't nip if it gets in the eyes. My vet recommended it instead of expensive dog shampoo; as dogs have sensitive skin they don't do well on human shampoos or soap..

Thanks again Birdwatcher. I suspect the wipes can be made by anyone at home if one knew the recipe so I think I'll try to find the recipe online. I think I'll get the mask as you said from Amazon. This would be good for stimulating my tear glands too.

Alex I get the eyelid wipes from boots they are produced by Eye Doctor £5 for 20 to be honest I cut them in half as recommended by the assistant the mask is also from EyeDoctor you heat it in the microwave i got that from amazon ,my optometrist had all the same products but their prices were very high !!
Sala it was my optician who said it was Rosacea .

Well done about the blepharitis! What did you do?

Squiffy Tue 05-Nov-19 10:30:45

Posted too soon! ?

You may be able to buy a cream/gel over the counter which contains azelaic acid.

Squiffy Tue 05-Nov-19 10:27:52

Finacea is effective, but it’s prescription only. It contains azelaic acid.

Can anyone recommend a cream I have developed a small patch on my chin think it stemmed for a bout of blepharitis which is all cleared up .
Someone mentioned a cream from Holland and Barrett’s but I can’t remember the name don’t want to go to GP as it’s not a big drama .
