annie hope it’s not presumptuous of me to start the thread but I appear to have closed the last one and didn’t want to leave anyone with no where to go.
Welcome all x

SalsaQueen Fri 14-Feb-20 19:16:47

Anniebach That's very kind of you x

Joce345 Thu 13-Feb-20 23:43:32

Annie that’s brilliant news so pleased you got sorted.. you will fly Annie!!
Hope every one has a peaceful nights sleep ??
Good night all..

Anniebach Thu 13-Feb-20 21:54:33

Forgot to say I received an apology .

Doodle loved your ‘a positive step’

rafichagran I went to bed last night repeating ‘tomorrow is
another day’.

Joce I did as you suggested, the therapist agreed

nanny thinking of you,

SalsaQueen I was thinking of you today when I was reading
The Pharmacy Poetry, it was about lack of self confidence , and you post this evening about it

We all need to remember. ‘What if I fall, darling what if you fly’. I certainly do when I start my recovery programme- again .

SalsaQueen Thu 13-Feb-20 19:32:25

Anniebach That's great news. Glad you'll be getting a ramp done.

Nanny2507 Sorry you're not feeling good. I hope it soon passes.

I met my son for his Dermatology appointment (typical, his skin looks gorgeous at the moment, due to some cream he's been prescribed), I wasn't late, I managed to park very easily, and I needn't have worried at all. I often doubt myself and my capabilities - I don't know why, as I'm actually very capable. I need to get some self-confidence again.

Doodle Thu 13-Feb-20 18:27:16

Wow annie at last a positive step (no pun intended ?). That’s such good news.
Hope it’s all sorted soon. Been to the shops this afternooon. Went through sun, rain, hail and wind. My hair looks as though it’s had a perm ?

Anniebach Thu 13-Feb-20 16:42:33

All sorted my friends x

Occupational therapist telephoned , assessment not necessary they are aware of my problems, chap called this afternoon a
permanent ramp will be fitted, it’s only an inch !

Thank you all for your support x how is everyone?

Greymar Thu 13-Feb-20 15:21:09

It is a fairly simple job to arrnge a small ramp, similar to the sort of things used on buses and taxis. A handy neighbour or family member should be able to help maybe.

Made a bit of a mess with the last comment Annie sure you get what I was trying to say... my dear little granddaughter wanted Gran to play.. sorry ...?

Joce345 Thu 13-Feb-20 13:13:32

Good luck Annie you tell them how it is for you... you are not asking for the world you are asking for some help, un like most of today, which you are willing to pay for.. unlike a lot of people today that want every think for nothing.. I makes me so angry Annie.. please let us know how you get on with them...

Anniebach Thu 13-Feb-20 11:49:47

Hi all x

How is everyone?

I have an appointment at 2.00 today with someone from the
Council !

Joce345 Thu 13-Feb-20 08:21:12

Annie I am so angry for you!! I don’t know about others, I am thinking if I was in your position I would get my wheelchair and ramp and get on with living they can’t stop you getting your own wheelchair and a rubber ramp. Then let them come and do there silly assessments in 4 months.

Anniebach Wed 12-Feb-20 22:37:44

Seems you are right, there can’t be any other reason Doodle

Doodle Wed 12-Feb-20 22:26:48

If you were buying them annie why is the assessment required? Is it because the council won’t allow you to have the ramp unless they have decided you need it ?
Thank you for your prayers as always x

Anniebach Wed 12-Feb-20 22:13:21

nanny there is a thread on the forum on hand surgery x

Anniebach Wed 12-Feb-20 22:11:05

Doodle I was buying the wheelchair and the temporary ramp, it doesn’t make sense that I have to be assessed to see if I need a wheelchair I would buy , would I buy one for fun ?

So happy to learn your grandson reacting with his dog with play, he is in my prayers are as you x

Joce it’s baffling, but they have so many rules and regulations.

nanny so sorry you have had a bad day, we are here for you x

rafichagran Wed 12-Feb-20 21:37:15

Do not give in this is vital. It will mean you can start to go out.
Forget about it tonight, tommorow is another day. Good suggestion to get a GP letter. The wait is unacceptable.
Please sldont be down hearted.

Doodle Wed 12-Feb-20 21:29:13

nanny I am so sorry you feel so bad. Please take care of yourself. We are all here for you xx

Doodle Wed 12-Feb-20 21:26:37

No annie not enough about you. This is important.
Don’t give up. The 4 month wait is ridiculous but that is what is happening in the world these days. In 4 months it will be June. Much better weather for going out in.
Please agree to the assessment (I’m assuming that buying a wheelchair is out of the question) and see what happens. I would so love for you to be able to go out. Please, please don’t give up. Sometimes things take longer than we think they should but please don’t give up.
I have been to see my DGS tonight. Playing with his new dog and smiling. Things can improve annie. I will keep praying for you xxx

Joce345 Wed 12-Feb-20 21:24:57

Nanny sorry to hear you are having a bad time, hope you feel better soon we are hear to listen if you need to talk...

Yes they can do finger joints, think we just need to talk a bit louder some times with the NHS these days...is it all the cut backs, if they can get away with not doing they will ..

Joce345 Wed 12-Feb-20 21:19:29

Aww Annie don’t give up.. can you not get a letter from your GP to say how bad you are on your feet . .. I don’t know how the council work where you are but surely you don’t need permission for any think that s not going to be permanently fixed.. you are not asking for a 2 storey apartment building on the side of you bungalow. It’s a ramp for goodness sake.
Do you have a mental heath worker that could help, it does affect your mental heath not being able to get out, 4 months is just discussing ..

Anniebach Wed 12-Feb-20 20:48:18

I can no longer walk more than a few yards because of the arthritis, can’t have surgery. Winter months are difficult.

Then decided not to give in, if I can’t walk I will buy an
electric wheelchair. Phone some one at the local church,
there is a ramp and wheelchairs users can go to services .

Phoned caretaker of parish hall, there is a ramp, wheelchair users welcome, coffee mornings, fetes, table sales etc.

Phoned wheelchair suppliers, checked measurements, don’t
want the same problems I had with Fred. Chose one.

Phoned council for permission to use small ramp at front door . Moved from repairs to new builds !, to building manager to social services! ! ! !

Have to have assessment from an occupational therapist to see
if I need a wheelchair, waiting time 4 months.

Am I not capable of deciding if I need a wheelchair? I didn’t
ask the council for anything except permission to place a
very low ramp ,not a permanent fixture .

I have decided to give up on the wheelchair, too much bother .

Enough about me x

nanny2507 Wed 12-Feb-20 20:42:43

hello all. I,m in a bad place right now...cried so much today i couldnt breathe. But never mind tomorrow is another day...

I saw the chat on arthritis i didnt know they could replace finger joints!! couple of mine are shocking and unusable. I inject weekly and monthly...why if they can replace the joints. surely replacing is more cost effective than injections long term.

rafichagran Wed 12-Feb-20 19:34:40

Yes all ears about what happened at the council? Why did they squash your desition to deal with agoraphobia?
Sorry that happened, please keep positive, we are all here for you.

Joce345 Wed 12-Feb-20 18:29:28

Annie how are you? do you want to share your positive decision... what’s happened with the council?

Anniebach Wed 12-Feb-20 16:01:00

Hi all x

Had two days battling with council, had made a positive
decision to deal with the agoraphobia. They had to squash it.
