annie hope it’s not presumptuous of me to start the thread but I appear to have closed the last one and didn’t want to leave anyone with no where to go.
Welcome all x

Anniebach Fri 03-Apr-20 14:53:27

Doodle my brothers firm, why oh why did I promise my
darling father 24 years ago when he was very ill, he said ‘ don’t leave your brother, you are the only one who he will listen too!

My parents should have listened to me when my brother was 2, I said then , put him up for adoption , they didn’t ?

Doodle Fri 03-Apr-20 14:48:02

No nonnie I only have myself to blame I just picked the wrong size jar of beetroot without checking blush. Hope you get your holiday money back.
joce I will certainly post a picture of my star when it’s finished. Not everyone likes quilting but rest assured when I first started I made a hash of so many things. Like everything else in life it all takes practice. If I can help tell me what your problem is or post a picture.
annie it sounds as though you have a busy day today. Is it a company you work for doing accounts? (Not prying just interested but don’t answer if you don’t want to ?) x

Anniebach Fri 03-Apr-20 13:25:23

Hi all x

Have to work today, sorting out who is and who isn’t working
for the firm , some want to, some don’t, grrrrrrrr

Joce345 Fri 03-Apr-20 12:33:53

Nonnie always best to check. Hope you get it sorted, lot of people I think will loose there money if not careful..

Hi all wondering what to do for the rest of day. Young boys across road from me have done me a lovely drawing of a rainbow to put in my window...

Nonnie Fri 03-Apr-20 12:17:16

Thanks Joce I saw that on BBC and was not impressed as it seemed to only be about those who had booked flights or packages. Nothing about those of us who booked villas through an agency and planned to drive to Europe. We will talk to our insurance company a couple of weeks before we have to pay and also the credit card company. Yes, I'm worried that if we don't pay the rest we will have cancelled but if we do and can't get it back we will be even worse off!

Joce345 Fri 03-Apr-20 10:50:51

Nonnie it was on last night about final payments on holiday,
Don’t take my word for this...what I think he was saying is.
Pay your last payment or that makes YOU in ( breach of contract )
then it is down to the holiday company to cancel your holiday...
Please check this, my son is in the same position they should go to Florida in July and have already payed a large amount on it, there is 4 of them going...
hope this help but please please make sure I got it right..

don’t know if you can get it on catch up.. It was on Thursday morning BBC1

Nonnie Fri 03-Apr-20 09:35:38

Doodle my first food delivery comes tonight and I am wondering what it will consist of. I allowed 'substitution' for some things so there could be some strange items. Perhaps your beetroot was a substitution?

Salsa its cold here too so maybe Edinburgh will be better later in the year. We have a family holiday booked in a villa in France for July and I need to find out what happens if we don't pay the final 50% in a month's time.

Phew nanny that is too much all at once. I doubt if GPs are as busy as usual so give them a call. A couple of weeks ago I saw on TV that A & E was practically empty.

Only positive today is that a lot of people are worse off than me.

Joce345 Thu 02-Apr-20 23:31:01

Doodle I would like to see your star, I wish I could do it sadly it has me beaten I think, I don’t give in easy but I don’t think quilting is for me. I will perceiver with the one I have been working on. Think it will be the last..
night all sleep well ?

Doodle Thu 02-Apr-20 22:52:44

Oh I see nanny that’s good. Glad your pain has gone.

nanny2507 Thu 02-Apr-20 22:44:15

Hi DOODLE sorry caps left on...I didnt rant at her. I was ranting about how I feel today xxx my ear pain has gone! Its just uncomfortable when it leaks. Saw my beautiful binks earlier he had his dinner. Popped him some bics in the kennel for later . I might give gp a call tomorrow if no better but as no pain I'm not too bothered his time can be used better elsewhere xx

Doodle Thu 02-Apr-20 19:47:39

nanny that’s fantastic weight loss. I am very impressed. I am so sorry about your ear that sounds so painful. Do you have any treatment for it? Hope you and DD make up ok.

nanny2507 Thu 02-Apr-20 19:44:53

I have had a huge rant at DD I am fine just everything at once today. Topped with a blasted leaking ear 2nd time in 2 months. This time it's bad. I am now getting the dreaded ear infection pain. Off to feed binks and then a video fat club visit...only half a pound and I've lost 2 stone!

Doodle Thu 02-Apr-20 19:37:36

annie that’s it yes. I remember reading it as a child and it obviously made a big impression as I still remember it (I have a memory problem, not dementia but some obscure thing that I have had all my life). I love the rhythm of the rhyme and how it relates to the carriages moving along the track. It reminds me of the old trains with the opening windows with the leather strap. The first time I went to Wales with my mother on one of those trains. So exciting.
joce a positive. Well it’s not very exciting but I finished joining together my quilted 8 point star today. Now I have to put some corners in and some backing to finish it off.
Take care all x

Joce345 Thu 02-Apr-20 19:21:31

Warmer weather on the way... that’s what we all need some lovely warm sunshine.
Hope everyone is doing ok..
seem a bit quiet last few days..
Has any one got any positive to tell us.

SalsaQueen Thu 02-Apr-20 18:05:56

The trip to Edinburgh can be re-arranged. It's very cold there, apparently, at the moment, so I'm glad to be warm and cosy indoors smile

I hope everyone is getting on alright. x

Anniebach Thu 02-Apr-20 15:28:25

Doodle I know that poem and even remember when I first
read it, when I was 7 my g aunt took me to join the childrens
section at the library, my very first book I chose ?

A Child’s Garden of Verses, Robert Louis Stephens poems
and the poem - From a Railway Carriage.

*
SalsaQueen* so sorry you had to cancel your visit to Edingburgh x

Doodle Thu 02-Apr-20 14:56:12

annie do you have any dogs now? If so, can you tell us about them? DGSs dog is big but very slender. Being a puppy she is full of energy. My other sons dog is like a bouncy fluffy rug. It’s like being licked by a big curly mat.?
nonnie it seems to be difficult for lots of people to get through to certain organisations. I suppose they are all busy at the moment. I hope you are able to get through soon.
nanny glad binks is still visiting. He must like you. ?
I had a food delivery today and washed it all with soapy water before putting it in the fridge. Never in a million years did I think I’d be washing the outside of a bag of lettuce. By the way, if any of you want some beetroot please let me know. I ordered what I thought was my usual standard jar and the one that came was massive. It won’t fit in the fridge.?
salsa sorry you missed your trip to Edinburgh. Glad you are all well.
joce I agree we need to keep busy to keep our spirits up. It is hard with all that’s going on at the moment. I am doing far more puzzles than usual. Suduko, the easy crossword. Listening to my audio book and.......annie I have started reading some poetry. Nothing in particular just the odd thing I have found on the internet. I have just this minute remembered a poem from my childhood. I must look it up. I can’t remember what it’s called but it starts off Faster than faries, faster than witches (it’s about a train). I think it must be quite well known.
Sorry I’ve been rambling on. Take care all x

SalsaQueen Thu 02-Apr-20 13:38:13

Lovely Anniebach How are you?

Nanny You do look after cats so well.

How is everyone else today?

I've been off work today (and tomorrow) as was meant to have been going to Edinburgh for a few days - obviously, all cancelled - but I'll re-book it for later in the year.

A few positive:

my family are all well (as is Mr Cooper my cat)

we've all got plenty of shopping (my husband went this morning, he's furloughed from work).

The whole house is clean and tidy.

Anniebach Thu 02-Apr-20 12:00:28

Tapdance how kind, I can’t have a wheelchair now, the council were going to fit a ramp at my door but they have
cancelled because of lockdown. I will have to accept it. I will
take your advice and contact International Aid when I will
be able to have a wheelchair.

nonnie it’s good you are having support .

Joyce yes keeping our minds occupied is good but don’t exhaust your mind x

Nonnie Thu 02-Apr-20 11:47:15

nanny loving how you are nurturing that cat.

We are in a WattsApp group of Compassionate Friends and they all seem to be having a tough day today. Anniversaries and can't go to the graves of their children because the cemeteries are closed. Lots of support though.

Had planned to go into the garden and find something to hack but it is cold and has turned grey so not going to.

Having a very frustrating time with a public sector institution who should respond as it is urgent but haven't. Asked my MP for help, waste of time!

Hope you all have a better day.

Tapdance6 Thu 02-Apr-20 11:33:46

Anniebach, if you think a wheelchair would be handy for you get in touch with International Aid they probably won't charge as much as these mobility shops. We have noticed that everything for the disabled is always top price.

Joce345 Thu 02-Apr-20 11:20:17

Morning all, how is everyone this morning hope you are all well.. going to see what I can find to today ...
need to keep our minds occupied...
have a good peaceful day all x

Anniebach Thu 02-Apr-20 11:17:51

nanny so relieved to learn you are coping.

I have always had dogs, 15 of them, I truly believe dogs choose people not people choose their dogs, now I think the
same of cats ,

nanny2507 Thu 02-Apr-20 10:49:07

Good morning annie thank you for your lovely message re binks the feral. Last night he came back and rolled on his back showing me his belly!!. still no touching allowed but i was so happy.

I am well i hope you are. Bizarrely not concerned about the virus. If i get it i get it. I am of course following all rules as I would not want to infect anyone IF i get it.

joce what a beautiful piece. How is everyone else xxxx

Anniebach Thu 02-Apr-20 10:06:14

Hi all x
