UV vacuum cleaners - has anyone tried them and are they effective?

I think we might have to go down the solid floors and blinds route, until then I am hoovering everything Daily (Hoover has a hepa filter) and looking for pillow and duvet barrier covers that don’t rustle and crackle when we move. Most are waterproof which we don’t want, so I’m still looking.
Some reviewers of the UV Hoover say that they are heavy and unwieldy.

I have several allergies and therefore use the dust mite barrier pillow and duvet covers. I've heard good things about the UV lights but regular hoovering (with allergy filters) is the most important thing.

We removed all the carpets and curtains from bedrooms. Now it's smooth floors and washable blinds with just bedside mats.

Hi there
DH has many allergies, but he recently had some tests done and we find that his dust mite allergy is almost as severe as his allergy to cats. Cats we can always avoid, but although I have ordered Hypo Allergenic Pillow Covers and a duvet, it seems that the only way to get rid of the pesky mites is this hoover.
DH says not to bother, but as he has problems at the moment and is under the consultant I think that we’ve ignored the problem for long enough.
We had new carpets recently and curtains, so I’m going to damp dust each day and possibly change bedding 3 times a week.

Would a UV hoover help on carpets, curtains and the mattress?

Or it it just another marketing ploy?
