Don’t worry about looking foolish and you are certainly not a wooze! I am sure the medical staff will understand your worries about the procedure and will put you at your ease.
Good luck.

Not 'a wuss' at all, hope all goes well flowers

Thank you ladies, been told it's a local anaesthetic. Already feeling sick with nerves. I dont want to make a fool of myself. Such a wuss!

I had a tongue biopsy a few years ago Haydnpat and remember they sprayed my tongue with a local anaesthetic spray before they started . I am not going to pretend the injections were pleasant because they weren’t but they really weren’t anywhere near as bad as I feared they would be. The wound itself healed really fast too . Good luck .

Hetty58, I was assuming it would be a general anaesthetic. ?

Oh dear, I think Emla is for skin - not inside mouths! Oragel is OK though. I'd take painkillers too, about an hour before as 'insurance' just in case it gets sore. I bet it's nowhere near as bad as you think!

No I've never had this but wanted to wish you well with it. I'm sure it won't be as bad as you fear though. Best wishes.

Buy Emla cream from a good pharmacy and apply 1hr before treatment. You will not feel the needle at all. I have used it before having a cannula in my hand. I didn’t feel a thing.

Has anyone had a tongue polyp removed? Is it as bad as I am imagining? I am very anxious as I have a needle phobia.

Hi, due to have a tongue polyp removed on thurday, scared stiff, not brave when it comes to needles. Has anyone had this done, but it as bad as I'm imagining?
