I am not sure if my child has a fever, but the oral thermometer on my hand seems inaccurate because he is not very good at putting it under his tongue. After reading the reviews of many different options, I chose a forehead thermometer. I find temperature measurement very easy, especially during this particular period, the non-contact thermometer is commendable. I got it from here, with a 50% discount: www.amazon.com/dp/B086MVY6ZG?tag=gransnetforum-21

As you get older the temperature is usually on the lower side @ 36, but that's normal.

I've got an old glass/ mercury one bought from the local chemist in the 70's and it's accurate. I won't use it on the children though, they have an ear one.
normal temperature is 98.5 ( F ) or 36 .5 ( C )

I have a Boots own digital thermometer, bought when I was on chemo because you had to ring the oncology unit if you ceveloped a fever.
The thermometer costs £39.99 but it is easy to use, just pass it close to brow.

Mine's a Braun which I had from Boots. It's really easy to use, just touch it on the forehead between the eyebrows. It changes from green to amber to red as the temperature rises. It was quite pricey but I think it's worth it.

I have 2 , one I bought 15 years ago for the GCs, still works fine it cost about £7, bought one yesterday for my DD , it cost £2.45 and it seems fine, we test them both on our foreheads when we are ‘normal’ temp.

I belong to the most vulnerable group re the corona virus and think I should buy a easy to use thermometer. I would do this online but find the choice confusing. Has anyone got one the would recommend please? Thanks in advance.
