Garlic is good for us although I do remember being told that I had 'contaminated the office'!

We use loads of garlic and onions.

Eating garlic might help with social isolating! So yes, therefore, can be good for one’s health! I tend to smother food with garlic powder, especially salads which I also cover in olive oil. I dread to think what I smell like.

I agree, Gilly1952
Garlic is wonderful.
Eat it every day and everyone will self-distance from you.

Garlic is good for health .

I think it's good for heart health and combating the common cold. You can buy odourless garlic in capsule or tablet form.

If eaten in sufficient quantities it can be used as an effective of birth control!

Well, it works for me- I havent had a baby for over 30 years since increasing my garlic intake!

Keeps the midges away!

I believe garlic prevents intestinal worms. Intestinal worms make people undernourished when food is scarce, hence the poorly appearance of people who should better have eaten garlic .

It keeps you safe from vampires!

Recipe for my all-time favourite, baked garlic soup. Take a large bulb of garlic, don´t peel, cut lengthways, drizzle with a little olive oil and bake in the oven for about 20 mins. In the meantime chop a small onion, peel and dice about three medium-sized potatoes, fry the onion in olive oil, add potatoes and baked cloves of garlic (they should come out of the skin easily with the help of a small teaspoon), cover with water and simmer for about another 20 mins, season with salt and pepper. Liquidize with a hand mixer. Tastes great with some crumbled crispy bacon. Garlic is fantastic, it has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, it lowers blood pressure and high cholesterol, it can even cure the common cold. If you don´t like the taste you can take it in tablet form, available from health shops.

But do check out both hydrogen hydroxide and garlic on Snopes.

Perhaps williamj01 could campaign for the banning of that dangerous substance, hydrogen hydroxide, too? Unless used with care, it kills more people than garlic! www.dhmo.org/facts.html

All those people on the Continent who routinely eat the stuff don't seem to suffer the problems you describe?
Perhaps there is some other cause?

Kittye Thu 18-Jun-20 09:41:38

MawB the mind boggles ?

MawB Thu 18-Jun-20 09:26:10

When taken by mouth.....

Is there any other way of “taking” garlic?
(You may prefer not to consider the alternatives) gringrin

My hand should have shrivelled up and fallen off years ago then - it is impossible to prepare garlic without touching it with bare skin (and don't suggest wearing marigolds, they don't fit me)

Elegran Thu 18-Jun-20 09:02:29

I assume you don't like it?

Oopsadaisy3 Thu 18-Jun-20 09:02:04

On the other hand it might not do any of these things.

williamj01 Thu 18-Jun-20 08:42:33

When taken by mouth, garlic can cause bad breath, a burning sensation in the mouth or stomach, heartburn, gas, nausea, vomiting, body odor, and diarrhea. These side effects are often worse with raw garlic. Garlic may also increase the risk of bleeding. ... RAW garlic is POSSIBLY UNSAFE when applied to the skin.
