GPS get paid for giving flu vaccines. The money they get is calculated as part of the income of the surgery to pay its doctors and staff to pay for all the services your GP provides. If you get your flu vaccination at the Pharmacy then they get the money. You may not think much of your GP surgery but the less money they receive the less services they can provide.
Deliveries of flu vaccinations are usually in bulk and don’t usually arrive at the surgeries until late September or early October. The GP surgery has to record the vaccination on your medical record, the batch number of the vaccine who vaccinated you and in what arm the vaccine was administered. This is in case of problems. If you have yours done at the pharmacy either it isn’t recorded at all or the pharmacy will send the information to your GP surgery and the admin team there will have to spend time entering the information from the pharmacy records to you medical record. In this case more admin work for the surgery without pay because the payment went to the pharmacy. This is not meant to influence your choice in any way just saying what happens.
