Hi all x

You are all waiting to know - it isn’t raining in Mid Wales .

The grandchildren sitting exams next year is worrying, I am
worrying about my mini tornado, her finals next year , she
hasn’t been able to attend a lecture or mix with fellow students
since last March.

Her brother and sister gained a 1st , I think this is adding to her
stress, she didn’t achieve straight A’s ,they did.

Chrissy thanks for your kind thoughts. Hopefully my son will find something soon. He is working on a short term contract at the moment. I too have DGC doing GCSE next summer and one doing A levels. It is worrying what will happen for them.

Doodle I’m sorry to hear that your son has been made redundant, such worrying times for a lot of people. My granddaughter is due to take her GCSEs next year and is feeling nervous because of all the schooling she’s missed. I’m glad that you got out for a long walk today. Been sunny here as well but very cold. Like you, I don’t know what I’d do without the BDG. x

Nonnie I believe that things happen for a reason, I’m so glad that you’re happy where you live. My DH does all the cooking and shopping as well but, unlike you, I don’t bake. He loves cooking and I hate it so it works well. I get the worrying with no apparent reason. I think that’s harder to deal with than when you know the what the problem is. I’ve been out painting the inside of the summerhouse but I have a heater in there now so it’s ok. I’m glad that your friend’s hospital appointment went well. How lovely that your DS and DiL’s road has a Christmas light turn on. I can tell you who would be drinking the alcoholic mulled wine if we were going
Annie I have wondered why more people aren’t posting here. It’s good that they’re reading though so hopefully they can see the level of support offered. I can vouch for how much support I’ve had since joining and how friendly everyone is. I didn’t realise that you had 2 little dogs, they must be a comfort to you. I hope you find someone to do some jobs for you.
rafichagran Sounds like you’ve been very busy at work. I’m sorry that you had a bad anxiety attack last night. I hope you’ve been ok today. Coffee out somewhere sounds lovely.
BlueSky I think you’re right about being given too much info nowadays. As you have said, your DH is in a lot of pain, hopefully the op will make a big difference to him. I know someone in her 70s who went in for a hysterectomy last week. She couldn’t praise the staff enough and said that they are going to great lengths to make sure that everyone is safe. I’m sorry that you’ve been diagnosed with a fatty liver.
Joce I’m so sorry that you’re feeling down. Great news that your family are all doing well. I’m sure it won’t be much longer until you can see them.
Doodle lopsided sounds fine as long as they’re tasty Still painting the summerhouse but already looking for bits to go in there. I’ve decided that I would like a comfy chair but, as the summerhouse is small, I have to hunt for one that will fit.
Scaredycat I agree, very frustrating when the doctor doesn’t listen. I’m glad that you’re feeling better than yesterday. You’ve been baking as well, you’re all putting me to shame.
nanny Sorry you’re feeling so down and your arthritis has spread to your other hand. I hope that things improve for you soon.

Annie I think you are right, so many are going through hard times now. Many, including my son, have been made redundant. Children are going through hard times worrying about their education. We all seem to be up and down with COVID . It is like the background to our life which used to be predictable isn’t any more. I’m just living on hope and prayer with my worries. Never know from one day to the next what will happen.
rafinchagran getting out for a bit does us good. How are things at work for you?
scaredycat we went for a long walk today. Very cold but sunny. Lots of people out which made it a bit difficult.

Scaredycat I dont usually drink as I am on AD's, but I just fancied a night cap, maybe 40% proof had something to do with it, still lesson learned. Like you I miss alcohol now and again.
I agree when posters say that when we visit our GP every think is put down to our anxiety/depression and sometimes it can be frustrating.

Chrissy- I agree I have had so many things put down to anxiety by the Doctor. I once said to him “people with anxiety get ill too” . It can be really frustrating.
Joce- I hope your DD and SiL are feeling stronger and that little Zach is thriving. I,m sorry you feel down but it’s very understandable in the circumstances.
Nonnie- It is so nice to hear how contented you are in your home - I must admit it does sound lovely in your close.
I was pleased you knew exactly how I felt and you put it into words so well. Still feel physically and mentally exhausted but better than yesterday.
With all the cooking that has been going on I made a Victoria Sponge this morning- don,t faint!!! It’s my DH ,s favourite so I earnt lots of Brownie Points today! Mind you he hasn’t tasted it yet!!
Enjoy the big Switch On it will be fun and a really nice start to Xmas.
Rafichagran- so sorry you had an anxiety attack after your Rum- what a shame. I used to love having a drink but since the AF I have had to give up alcohol- I really miss it .
Annie- glad the new physio is going to help you and hope she is able to sort out a wheelchair soon. Hopefully when the Spring comes you will be able to get out on your patio amongst the flowers and enjoy the sun.
Bluesky- I do think sometimes we are given too much information but it is the medical profession having to cover themselves in these days of litigation. I know how hard it is to not worry but think how much the Op will improve your DH,s life and he will be pain free. They will take good care of him.

Doodle Thankyou for the reply, like everyone on here I have good and bad days. It was a bad day yesterday. I started to feel a bit down today, realised I am fortunate. I got into the car, and I am having coffee in a well known chain. I know some people cannot do this. After writing this post I will sit here for half an hour and read my kindle.
Bluesky sorry you have all this worry, when I had a procedure I got told everything including the worst possible scenario. I know it is scary but it's a legal requirement and thankfully things going wrong are very few and far between. My good wishes to you and your husband.

Doodle I think we need to speak of our problems as well as our hobbies, when I posted about my bungalow and my darling daughter I realised it stood out from other posts as gloomy, this concerned me for others who may hesitate to post. x

Annie nice to hear you planning again. Once we get through this year hopefully things will get better and you will have more help in getting out. Some tubs on the patio sound nice. What would you have in them?
Bluesky your DH having an op is bound to cause you concern. I have been the same when my DH has had them.
The stuff you get given to read is like the leaflets you get with medication all bad news but we still have to take our meds anyway. Try not to worry about it over Christmas. I’m sure all will be fine. As for COVID I have read that things in hospital are much better organised now and all safety measures will be in place. Take care of yourself too.
Joce just seen your second post. Hope you are ok sometimes this low feeling descends upon us. We are here if you want to talk or not.

BlueSky. Reading of warnings would alarm me too and many others I’m sure.

Not sure if it’s arthritis which is the cause of the op ? If so I
can understand why your husband has chosen to go ahead , I have given thought to having it done, would love to have the
full use of my hands again instead of just a thumb and forefinger, or my hip , or my knee, think my knee so I could
walk without severe pain in every step.

I have heard that gallstones can be dissolved, something for
you to ask if you see a doctor or consultant.

Scones were fine but lop sided. You sound better in control and more positive. Which is lovely. I think your summerhouse will be a big boon for you.

Annie you are right. I think many read and sometimes others are directed this way from other threads. I think sometimes people are afraid to admit they are feeling low or depressed.
No judgement here just a sympathetic ear from others with the same problems.

Thanks Annie no date yet for his op, I guess after Christmas? Everything about the op worries me, well they warn you that this or that could happen, then Covid on top of all this! If it was me I would cancel but then I don’t have the disabling pain and limitations DH has.
As for my gallstones nothing said as yet, but I don’t have the colics that go with it, it was just noticed on a unrelated abdo scan. I’ll probably hear from the consultant eventually but will check with my GP.
Pleased you had an understanding and helpful physio Annie you’ve got to be able to look forward x

BlueSky you must be concerned after reading all the blurb,
I think with warnings with medication it’s a case of - a little
knowledge is a dangerous thing’, perhaps the same with what you read re your husband’s operation . It’s natural to be worried when it’s about someone you love.

When is your husband due for the op, is there one thing which is causing you much anxiety or is it the op itself ?

What is being done about your gallstones ? I had my gallbladder out years ago, no keyhole surgery then.

Don’t keep your anxiety to yourself my love x

Morning all x Rather downbeat like the weather I’m afraid. I’m worried about DH’s op, read all the leaflets they sent him to sign and it makes depressing reading. Better in the old days when we didn’t know much about anything, that was for the doctors to think about.
Then in my case as well as gallstones looks as if I got a fatty liver. I looked it up and it does say it’s very common, but I did go through a spell when I retired when I did drink a fair bit, even though tee totals can still have it. I need to be fit for DH at the moment not having to worry about my own complaints!

Hello rafichagran lovely to hear from you x Sorry you had
a an anxiety attack, no rum for Christmas ok ? .

I will explain my housing problem, can’t afford a private rent so has to be council accommodation . Can only have one bedroom, this means a bungalow, couldn’t use stairs anyway.

No bungalows on the nice estates in town, they are all in areas in the edge of town, all Cul de sacs, they do have flats too .

I tried an exchange, several people are on the list but all in
bungalows without gardens, I have two little dogs and love my garden.

Since my post a few days ago I have given much thought , decided best to put up and shut up, the virus is causing
so many problems for so many , I am isolated but so are many
people . This is where ‘acceptance ‘ comes in .

You may remember my love of Snowdrops and Spring , I
am thinking of the poet Shelley ‘if winter comes can spring be
far behind’.

I was so fortunate that the council paid for my lovely patio so
am planning how I can have a few tubs there. Going to find someone who can do some odd jobs for me so I can wizz around there on the wheelchair, if/when I have it

I can understand why you feel the way you do.
Good wishes to everyone here. I hope to keep in touch more, this week has been busy at work and there have been changes.
I am glad you have seen the Physiotherapist, and they have approved a electric wheelchair.
Just a suggestion, sorry if it has been suggested before but is there anyway you could do a council exchange, or explain to the housing department with evidence from a GP the effect your DD passing away is having a detrimental affect on you and your health is suffering. I hope you do not think anything I have suggested is insensitive.
I hope all the thoughtful and kind posters on here are doing well. I will catch up with everyone but I have been busy with changes at work.
Had a blip last night, had a nightcap, I have not had alcohol for months, I drunk rum that I bought back from Jamaica and it was 40 per cent proof. It did not mix well with my medication and I had horrendous a horrendous anxiety attack. I wont be doing that again.
