DH's front tooth has broken off.

Our dentist is private (no nhs available in our area) and I’m still having a filling next week. Dentists don’t have to close. I’ve been to Specsavers too this morning all as normal.

Just to update if anyone is interested. My H went to the dentist who confirmed it’s all healed and ready to proceed. But - the appointments he had over the next month have, of course, had to be changed now so he’s not getting the bridge in until 30 December! That’s supposing we’re not locked down for even longer. This all started in March this year so that’s ten months of a gaping gap at the front of his mouth! Roll on Christmas with Old Steptoe, well, at least we’re not going out!

Same with my H but he has been without a front tooth for months now, he looks awful. He had to wait about 8 weeks before they could take out the tiny edge of real tooth remaining because of lockdown. Then he had to wait again for weeks for it all to heal. Beginning of November, he goes back for the first of treatments to replace. He refuses to have an implant, says it’s not worth it at 72! Won’t have a denture obviously. So he is having a fixed bridge which I pray looks ok and stops him looking like Steptoe senior! But it doesn’t seem as if it’s going to be in place for Christmas and this is with a BUPA private dentist.

My husband did this. The dentist just built it up, and it hardened. You’d never know there was anything wrong with it.

If there isn’t enough tooth to crown perhaps he could have an implant?

I am going dentistr Wednessay.Broken lateral central with no crown remaining. i might get a crown or I might get root canal or I might get a bigger denture. No point in paying a lot of money for root canal at my age.

Hopefully there is enough tooth left to crown. My dentist always said don’t go eating French sticks as my teeth aren’t up to it!

Thanks for the replies. He had a call back from the dentist and has an appointment next Monday. Had to laugh about the sour dough bread Fevertree cos that's exactly what I had bought for the first time this weekend. Think its going to turn out to be a very expensive loaf! Fingers crossed that they'll be able to build it up.

I've had the same as Urmstongran excepting the bottom edge of my tooth looked decidedly wavy. My dentist waved me off with "Beware of toasted sourdough bread!"

I think my two big front teeth are rather thin and brittle these days.

But - saved by the wondermix!

I chipped a front tooth this summer & a corner came off. A dentist did a fabulous job of building it back up with a wonder mix.

It's a good sign that more tooth is 'still in place' as, if it's good and stable, it can be built up.

They may be able to save the tooth and cap it if not possibly extraction and a false tooth on a bridge. That will depend on the strength in the adjoining teeth. I hope they see him soon.
