Has anyone tried it?
I have noticed my knees gradually getting weaker and more painful despite trying to build up muscle by exercising regularly.
I’m still in full time work with 4.5 yrs until retirement and am struggling!

I have heard it can really help with joint pain. Does anyone have any experience of using this please?

Yes I have been using 7seas with turmeric for 6 months and although it did take few months, I have had less pain in knees. I am 77 and I do a little exercise, not enough I know, I always mean to go for walk every day but rarely do, I try some exercises while waiting for kettle to boil, it’s fast boil tho, and I wonder if we should accept that our bodies are steadily wearing out and stop worrying about it, just do our best to stay as healthy as possible and make the most of life

I started taking turmeric and black pepper to guard against inflammation ( I was pre diabetic and am not now) I heard it lowers blood sugar?

I avoid sugar because sugar contributes to pain, so I cannot tell which benefits are from the turmeric and which is because of giving up sugar (I gave up bread, fruit, chocolate and biscuits). I do still have dark choc and wine a couple of times a week though. Overall, I recommend giving up sugar AND taking turmeric.

Re coming off HRT, please please get as much info as u can as so so many new types out there, bringing advantages to our lives in general. There is a woeful lack of information out there amongst some GPs. It may be beneficial to see a specialist before u discount HRT totally. It can be life changing .

I use curcumin which is from tumeric. I get it from Holland and Barrett. It has made such a difference to knee and hip pain . It has also reduced swelling. I swear by it.

I grate fresh Turmeric and make a tea with black pepper, some grated ginger and a teaspoon of honey. Delicious but very messy to make as the Turmeric stains horribly. I have a mug every day.
It certainly seems to have lessened my knee pains.

Well must say I took hrt for about 9 years altogether, made life so good, then my gp said I must stop, that was when all of my joint problems got so much worse. Also I got all of the menopausal problems that hrt kept at bay. I exercise every day take medication and supplements including turmeric and now dare not stop, but I have chronic pain virtually non stop, what is worse I don't believe that the doctors understand, after all they don't have it so how can they tell, have been assessed for a spinal cord simulator, but knocked back because of another health problem. Life's a bitch and then you dir so they say!

Carbs cause inflammation, eliminate most of them and you'll see a huge improvement

Hi, I make my own Turmeric paste . Look up medical trials and info , it’s all out there. I use a recipe called golden paste, it costs pennies to make and only takes a few mins. If has obliterated my thumb joint pain and I now take no prescription for back pain in relation to inflammatory issues. I would stress however that if u have any pre existing conditions that u do your research. Eg it can thin your blood like aspirin so anyone already on blood thinners needs doctors advice, it’s been used in horse/pet treatments for years. It is excellent for bowel health also. I cannot rate it highly enough. Be choosy should u go down the tablet route as u get what u pay for. However the homemade paste costs a fraction of the price !!!!!!

I had really painful hands and the rheumatologist recommended that I use turmeric with black pepper. I’ve been taking it for two months and noticed a vast improvement in only four weeks. I know t works. ?

Black pepper's other name is Curcumin by the way an dyes, it's essential to take a tablet that has them combined for best effect - and who wants anything less !! Yes, take one a day and in a few weeks all will be well. I take it every day - may have to up the dose to 2 per day during damp winter months. Anyone any advice about that ?
As for powder - wonderful stuff. Sprinkle it on stews and curries and anything like that, stir it into cottage /shepherd's pie mix. Just use it. No one will know it's in the dish unless you mention it. I agree - it's vile to drink in milk etc so just stir it into anything savoury.
Turmeric powder is also a wonder cure for burns - just mix a bit into a paste with milk, cover the burn and it works wonders. Wouldn't be without it !

Blacksheep46 - I’m assuming your comment is a typo. Circumin is not Black Pepper. Circumin is one of the compounds in turmeric, called curcuminoids. Curcumin itself is the most active ingredient and appears to be the most important. ingredient in Turmeric. Black pepper contains the bioactive compound piperine which boosts the absorption of the circumin which is why it’s important to ensure the turmeric or circumin (you can buy circumin tablets/capsules) supplement has piperine in it.

I have osteoarthritis in my hip and it became so painful I struggled with going upstairs. I wasn’t keen on surgery yet so decided to try Organic Turmeric Curcumin with Black Pepper & Ginger. I take 2 high strength capsules per day.

It took a good 3 months to take effect but I persevered because I’d bought enough for 6 months.

I honestly think they’ve helped enormously so I’m loathe to discontinue them now. I still get twinges but would highly recommend them.

What brand did you buy?

I would love to try Turmertic, but wonder what effect it has on bowels can you easily have problems like having a loose tummy? horrors!

Kim19 Sat 31-Oct-20 14:03:24

I swear by my daily CLO capsule for my joint comfort. Been indulging for years now.,

You would have to take 2 tablespoons of turmeric every day to have any effect. Glucosamine has only placebo effect. HRT has been shown to be beneficial for knee osteoarthritis, if you happen to be taking it for other reasons, but it would be an 'off-label' use if you were to ask your doctor. Exercise has about the best effect of all - little and often!

Many years ago before natural remedies took off, my friend's pony had arthritis quite badly. My friend had heard about the benefits of glucosamine and bought a large tub. About the size of a large tin of Dulux paint. The dosage for a thirteen hand pony was substantial. But it worked. She was definitely better. So my friend worked out the weight of the pony and her weight and a dose for a small late middle aged lady and took it herself for her own knees. The swelling went down considerably and the pain was much eased. She did eventually need new knees but it delayed the operation for many years.

I don’t know about the efficacy of Turmeric for joint pain, but 10 years ago I started (under physio advice) to wear ankle weights every couple of days and in a seated position lift up my lower legs alternatively for about 24 reps each side. I get virtually no knee pain now although they can be noisy! I also take Glucosamine.
