I had a bad toothache recently, a bit of filling had fallen out. The dentist advised using Sensodyne Rapid Repair toothpaste to see if it helped with the pain and I couldn’t believe the difference, pain was gone within two days.It might not last but it will keep me out if the dentist in the meantime,

I’ve had a number of dental issues right throughout lockdown and having had no problems for about 10 years everything went wrong from March! I ve had 3 lost fillings ( same tooth) and a broken crown which needed root canal work. I ve just list the same temporary filling again and am booked to start crown work on this next week, am hoping I can still go. My dentist has been very good, dental hygienists are furloughed and patients are one in one out and we have to stay outside until they let us in, they ve been very Covid safe. If you have a dental emergency they will happily see you usually xx

I have an appointment with my BHS dentist next week to replace a filling and an appointment later in the month for a checkup

Just noticed the post about drilling. When I had my filling before Christmas they drilled out the tooth no problem.

If you are registered with a dentist they will see you. I cracked a back tooth the week before Christmas and they saw me next day and filled the tooth. If you are not registered then it will be difficult to get seen, maybe only privately, and even then they are very booked up. Good luck

I lost part of a filling had it replaced then side of tooth wall broke off was seen a week ago today to sort it. Later today seeing a specialist dentist who is going to root fill it then it will be crowned. It’s the back tooth at the top. It’s going to cost me to have it done but I need it sorting

I had a broken tooth last lockdown I had a telephone app for them to tell me they can only do temp filling as drilling not allowed. So I had temp filling which fell out after a few weeks, went back and had another as was painful, apart of this fell out but left enough in for no pain. Still waiting for them to contact me when they can drill again and do a proper filling.

half an hour ago, I booked an NHS dental appointment for next week. told them there was no hurry could wait till February. a quality Street toffee pulled the filling out. I was being relaxed and forgot to pick a soft center.

If you go into boots you can get a temporary filling kit. I forget its name. Sorry.

I've had a number of tooth issues over the years (dental and needle phobic) and, in my experience, any pain clears up within a few days. This is because the nerve gradually becomes desensitised once it is exposed. If you do get pain then paracetamol will help, take it together with ibuprofen if there is any inflammation/swelling. So long as its not cutting your tongue or gum due to being sharp then its not that urgent if you can't access dental treatment at the moment. Hope this helps

It depends whether you really want to stick with your usual dentist or if you want to stay with an NHS dentist. If your usual dentist is closed and you are a private patient there is noting stopping you from going to any other private dentist. These days the prices are competitive and should be shown on their website, if not ASK!. If you usually use an NHS dentist then contact your nearest Dental Hospital as they will take emergencies or point you in the direction of your nearest. It sounds as though you are not an emergency (yet) and could go to any private dentist locally. Ours is open and operates a fully Covid safe service, more so than any other premises I have been to in the last 10 months. Good luck and keep smiling if you can!

I was plagued with a tooth problem, although not actual toothache from early April, so when my dentist said they could offer a routine check up early in December I went along. It felt very safe, had to wait outside and there seemed to be no other patients there. Into the surgery one way and out another...no personal items were allowed in the surgery. Tooth was sorted...it was a gum problem. My hubby has been twice with lost fillings. I’d definitely go if you can.

Here in Scotland, we are in lockdown and I had the same happen to me on Sunday ... no pain as yet but I rang our NHS dentist this morning and am booked in for 25th Jan with no problem. If I have pain etc I can get emergency treatment. Ring and ask - is my advice.

I broke a back tooth a few months ago. The process of contacting my dentist seemed protracted but I had telephone triage, fairly speedy appointment and, after excavations almost to Australia, my tooth was fixed. I admit, my dentist only does private work so it was pricey but my worries were similar to yours and it was a real relief to get it fixed! Have you tried phoning your dentist?

My tooth split in half eat a date which was supposed to be stoneless. ? The tooth remained intact and got a dental appointment with no trouble (classed urgent). Dentist said it would have to come out and whilst awaiting that appointment infection set in which brought the extraction appointment forward. You should be able to get an appointment, surely.

My dentist is pretty much back to normal now. I have had a check up and hygienist appointment during the past 6 months. You should not have a problem getting an appointment.

My dentist is still open, but we have to wait outside until we are called for our appointment and there is no one to answer the phones, we have to book an appointment by e mail.

I think dentists are still open for emergencies. Def worth ringing them and leaving a message if necessary. Good luck!

My dentist isn’t seeing patients for routine visits but seeing people with a problem. I have been this morning to have my broken tooth prepared for a crown. Dentist and nurse in full PPE and all felt fine. They have been working throughout apparently.
