Do you sleep alone? ?

I sleep alone and have done for years except when I stayed somewhere with my GCs. I would sometimes wake up during the night and find one of them standing at the end of the bed complaining they had had a bad dream, or they were cold or just find one climbing into bed beside me. They are too big for that now and anyway Covid put a stop to the over night stays.

No, sleep with my husband, both go up at more or less the same time and read for a while, average seven hours, longer if he’s not working.

Sleeping alone now, since my husband died. To start with my sleep was very patchy but since buying a new mattress things have improved sleepwise.

I sleep alone since dh had major heart surgery 5 years ago. It was best when he first came home and just carried on. On a couple of occasions when something has really upset me he has shared our bed. Tbh although it was nice to have company I did not really enjoy the overall experience- too scared to move even in KS bed in case I hurt him, not being able to read until late or read in bed in the middle of the night etc.

Yes, I sleep alone. I need a full king-sized bed all to myself.

I am single and so do sleep alone. However I always sleep on one side of the bed and never position myself in the middle. My sister thinks that is weird!

I sleep with my darling husband in the bed and my 2 dogs in their beds in my room. I have a superking bed and even then my husband takes up most of it! One of my dogs is 3 but still acts like a puppy so likes to have a stroke during the night to make sure I am still there so comes and butts me until I give in and stroke him.

I’ve slept alone for the last 20 years, except for my dog. I suffer from insomnia and DH has bad back problems that keep him awake. I love my big comfortable bed.

I have been single for the last 15 years and am happy not to be sharing my bed with anyone else...mostly! In times of stress or sorrow I do miss a comforting cuddle to fall asleep or wake up to, however on balance I find that sleeping alone in a double bed feels much better than doubling up - for practical reasons really. I can stretch and arrange the pillows and duvet exactly as I need them with no interference...no snoring to disturb my slumber...and when I'm too warm I can fling the covers back without disturbing anyone else. So sleeping alone definitely has its advantages, but equally if one is in a loving relationship there's a good case for sharing if both like it that way!

I sleep alone as DH snores and is very restless he needs to get on all fours sometimes to help his back, so he used to get out in middle of night and go in spare room but now just goes in there when we go to bed. I can get an undisturbed sleep now and he can thrash about as much as he wants,

I sleep alone. My husband snores. When I say snores, it's like a pneumatic drill. It's impossible for either of us to sleep - me because of the noise and him because I'm constantly nudging him and complaining! He's been to doctors over the years about this and tried various remedies. He's not
overweight so that's the best we can do.

Its just the same of me Kate1949 with DH's snoring. I've slept alone for around 4 years now just to be able to get some sleep. I will sneak into his room for a cuddle though......

Yes, I sleep alone. Due to snoring issues, DH usually sleeps in the spare room. Thus we both have a decent night's sleep. But he always brings in cuppas and joins me for a cuddle in the morning! Our bedroom is still our bedroom : all our clothes, etc. are stored there, and the spare room is still very much the spare room. If we have guests, then we sleep together with earplugs. (Due to the ongoing pandemic, it's been a long time since that has happened.)

Sleeping together is about compromise, the thickness of the quilt, curtains are drawn or not, reading or tv on, the temperature of the room, what time to go to sleep and get up.

It must be rare that two people would want the same sleeping conditions so, in my opinion, compromise just means nobody is happy.

Forgot to mention DH has gerbils in the bedroom with him and the dog it’s like a farmyard not for me !

I started sleeping in a spare room when I was up very early helping with granddaughters until over a year ago. Later on my husband developed a weak bladder getting up twenty times a night. Enough was enough so I resumed sleeping on my own that’s the way it will stay.

I have been on my own for years now and then my cat decided my bed was really comfortable so stayed many nights. Now she is no longer here I do sleep very well and I can throw off the duvet or wrap it around me as I fancy, not bothering anybody with my antics. I enjoy reading for a couple of hours before sleep so again I can do that without the light disturbing anybody.

Since DH and me have got older we find we've both also become much more restless sleepers, myself mainly due to chronic pain at night, and hubby from having to make frequent loo trips, so we now sleep in separate beds which makes our night life far more comfortable if a bit less exciting if you get my drift but at our age c'est la vie I'm afraid!

We have separate rooms as well, due to illness and poor sleeping patterns. I don't sleep any better alone but I don't feel guilty putting the light on to read or walking around because I have cramp. No TV or screens in my bedroom.
We still maintain a loving and comfortable relationship, there is a lot to be said for feeling comfortable with someone.

It's just over 12mths since I lost my lovely man and I have not had a full nights sleep since,we shared our large double bed for nigh on 45yrs and I just can't get used to the space,I have poor quality sleep anyway but this has made matters worse for me.I did have my little dog to cuddle up to until I also lost her over a month ago.

I sleep with my OH and I can sleep quite well but apparently I wake him up quite often as he is a light sleeper

That is exactly my experience! My husband died 2 years ago and initially I was sleeping really well but now I have gone back to having trouble getting to sleep some nights and on other occasions waking up in the early hours and having trouble getting back to sleep. I have to get up and read for a while and hope that will help and it does sometimes.

I prefer to sleep alone so I can rollover, adjust blankets, etc. without worrying that I am disturbing someone else’s sleep.

I am too aware of someone else in bed with me and it disturbs my sleep.

I do miss sleepy cuddles though.
