Last year we were in the same situation, OH diagnosed with Stage3 bowel cancer. He’s is now in the clear, the community forum really helped when you think things aren’t going too quickly.

I agree look at forums they are very supportive and informative .The wait is hard for all concerned take care of yourselves and best wishes for the future .

When I was first diagnosed with breast cancer I felt the same. Waiting for test results is the very worst time. Once you have the results and a treatment plan it does get easier.
At the moment just live a day at a time and whatever you do don’t Google. Just trust your doctors.

I echo the suggestions of Bowel Cancer UK and MacMillan. Both organisations were very helpful and supportive when DH was diagnosed.
Don’t forget to look after yourself too, perhaps contact your local Carers Centre, they may have local support groups.

If it’s anything like my experience there will be a multidisciplinary team looking at all aspects, such as anaesthesia, surgery, any existing conditions. For instance, I had become severely anaemic due to internal bleeding so needed iron infusions before my surgery. Things will be proceeding in the background, as it were. Once they decided on my treatment plan things moved very quickly indeed. It is very scary because you’re in unknown territory. Both of the charities mentioned are very helpful.
