Is there one rule for us and one for them?
How can he say, with a straight face that he is not isolating?
I can imagine people up and down the land choking on their breakfast. The audacity! This could lead to real social unrest.
He could pass this on to anyone who works at No10. Has he no common sense or decency?
I cannot believe when I read that he is so popular. Why?

Unless you're privy to BJ's medical records, he hasn't contracted Covid-19 again. He just came into close contact with S. Javid and is isolating.

mistymitts Mon 19-Jul-21 10:43:35

@Ladyleftfieldlover, yes, you can most certainly get COVID more than once.

Subi Mon 19-Jul-21 10:42:48

Johnson has carefully cultivated his act, jolly fellow well met persona, he’s a scheming self interested power hungry man no scruples, he lies continually, untrustworthy and shallow, I find it hard t understand his popularity.

Ummm…….

How is it possible that people can believe something so strongly in the face of all evidence?

Oh, how long have you got MoorlandMooner? sad

Years ago when Denmark originally joined what was then the common market we did so after a long campaign and voting sessions.

A politician who had throughout the campaign been against joining, turned round after the voting session and said he had voted to join.

At the time most people in this country found his behaviour totally dishonest. His own explanation was "Well, you have a point of view until you change it"

This fatuous excuse seems since then to have become a tenet that politicians everywhere are living by!

He does not have COVID as far as I know. He is double jabbed and has had it in the past so is less likely to develop the disease.
The sand in the ointment is that he was trying to wriggle out of self isolation by signing up to the pilot scheme, but as the other minister decided that that would not set a good example, he blunderingly changed his mind and then backed it up saying that he thought that we should all be on the same page, what a hypocrite! How on earth can he still be the PM is beyond me.

BoJo doesn’t have Covid - at least get the facts right before he is slated

MoorlandMooner Mon 19-Jul-21 10:35:55

Yesterday morning a course of events unfolded clearly in plain sight of the entire nation. The main characters themselves have told us that they originally considered not isolating, one in writing and one in a video. Their close colleague and fellow minister confirmed this on several separate occasions on TV and radio. The issue was widely reported, and still continues to be reported across all media.

Some people still choose to believe the opposite and happily come on Gransnet to tell us it didn't happen or happened differently. They use one element of the story taken in isolation, with no reference to the time at which it appeared in the unfolding events.

How is it possible that people can believe something so strongly in the face of all evidence?

Shirlb Mon 19-Jul-21 10:35:54

He’s going to be now ?if we can believe him ??

I guess my hand would be forced if I was contacted by T&T though. I would absolutely comply, I’m not really a rebel. But if I felt well, I’d be miffed. But again, I wouldn’t want to possibly make anyone else ill. Unlikely, but possible.

It wasn't the contact by T&T that forced his hand. It was the public outcry.

This is what I read
www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/boris-johnson-told-to-self-isolate-by-nhs-test-and-trace_uk_5fb191f1c5b6c5f3d2f8a3d6
Another slant, which I agree with, don’t like mob rule and u turns because of it,

Ladyleftfieldlover

I’m not sure you can get covid twice. Otherwise we’re doomed.

Noel Fitzpatrick (Super Vet) had Covid twice. He said the last time (earlier this year) was much worse than the first time.

He said he felt so ill the second time that he thought he would die.

So what goes on inside Chequers? No contact with staff? Food left at the door to his bedchamber?

Champers in the garden and croquet with Carrie I should imagine!

You must get different news from me Maddyone.Times today "after fierce criticism from Labour and ridicule on social media Johnson admitted it was better to stick to the same rules as everyone else."Funny how he got to Chequers though !

Alegrias1 Mon 19-Jul-21 09:33:56

I think the pilot scheme is real and is a valid thing to do, but if Johnson was a proper leader he would have self isolated straight away which would have made the population think "we're all in this together" instead of "one rule for them, one rule for us".

10 days in Chequers or Number 11 or where ever they are would be no hardship. He could even have appeared on TV today to say something along the lines of how now that things are open, the virus is still around, and look, even the PM had to take care and self isolate when necessary.

Katek Mon 19-Jul-21 09:28:10

And this is different….?

So the Downing Street Pilot Scheme has gone by the wayside, then.

maddyone Sun 18-Jul-21 22:56:23

Me too Whitewave.

Oldbat1 Sun 18-Jul-21 19:22:20

Odd Johnson had a change of heart AFTER the Andrew Marr programme went out this morning. Jenrick gave some waffle about Downing Street being approved members of a scheme. For those doubters I suggest watching on iPlayer. A definite U turn and quite rightly.

According to the press, it was T&T that forced him to isolate. It’s illegal to not isolate if contacted by T&T as I understand it.

Glad our Prime Minister understands the rules.

Polarbear2 Sun 18-Jul-21 17:08:24

Cummings named him Trolley Johnson. Crashes along from side to side out of control. Gosh it’s lovely we have such a fabulous guy in charge.

MoorlandMooner Sun 18-Jul-21 16:58:56

All the news outlets and Robert Jenrick were earlier this morning reporting that the PM was not going to isolate. Then later this morning .......after huge public outcry.....a Uturn.

I'm often wrong maddyone and would be happy to be wrong on this if you could explain what I've missed.

maddyone Sun 18-Jul-21 16:49:35

You may believe that if you want to MoorlandMooner.
