Anyone know how long to wait for a Prolapse referral

I was referred to a Gynecologist in October last year. I was seen within 4 weeks.
Long story short I saw the consultant on Monday this week and asked how long the wait was for surgery. He couldn't give me an answer, he said if there are no beds then operations are cancelled. Cancer surgery takes priority over everything else, as it should.
I think it depends on where you live and how serious your prolapse is.
If mine was very severe I think I would probably pay to go privately.

My friend has just had a prolapse treated privately thanks to her family.
Altogether it was about £3500 and saved her months of acute discomfort.
She was told the list was about 12 months long.

I agree with B9 and have done this several times. ask for a referral for a private consultation. I’ve paid around £200/250. This cuts out the initial waiting time. Then if consultant talks of private treatment you say you wish to continue with the NHS.
NHS will still have a list but it’ll be shorter.

I now have Benenden medical insurance at £11 per month. It would cover this treatment but you must be in it for 6 months before qualifying.

This probably goes against the grain for some people but…I had same problem several years ago. Long waiting list then, long before Covid. I decided to have initial consultation at a private hospital with someone who works for the nhs too. It cost about £200 and I got appointment within days of ringing. It saved weeks/ months of worry and discomfort.

Will depend on where you are in the Country. If you can possible afford a private consultation to get the process started I would advise taking that?
