Have you got an oximeter to check your oxygen levels?

My husband tested positive was ok for 2 days then 3rd,4th and 5th he was really not well....violently sick unable to keep even water down. On the 6th day he started to be able to eat small amounts of toast and drink water...after that he improved daily. Tested negative on LFT on 7th day.....after that he improved greatly...

Like you, OP, I have been lucky up till last weekend when I tested positive. Currently on day 4, my symptoms have been really mild....a bit of a headache and a feeling like I have a mild cold. My worst symptom is the of lack of sense of smell and taste. I too wonder how long these symptoms last especially the loss of senses. I guess everyone is different though as there seems to be no rhyme nor reason to how this virus operates. I hope you and your DH feel better very soon.

Mary10 exactly so. It affects everyone differently in symptoms and outcome so no good asking anyone else how they did. Just make sure you have a pulse oximeter to check your BLOOD oxygen levels as that is the big factor. Even if your lungs are working okay your blood oxygen can plummet and that's when you need urgent treatment.

My DH and I caught Covid in August despite being double vaccinated and careful. We were unwell like the flu for about 2 weeks, DH lost his sense of smell and taste which came back in the last week, so about 2 months, while I didn’t lose it. It took me about 3 weeks before I was back to normal.

Thanks everyone, it appears to be the case of "how long is a piece of string". No oximetere so will stick to paracetamol, water and sleep

It's very far from over yet. I really can't understand why people seem to have abandoned masks and distancing - when infection rates are still high.

Also, why do children and grandchildren visit without testing first?

It’s different for everyone. A friend in her 80s said she wouldn’t have known she had it if she hadn’t lost her sense of smell for 24 hours. DH and I tested positive 3 and a half weeks ago. He’s asthmatic, but just had mild cold symptoms for two days, then straight back to normal. I had a few very mild symptoms off and on over the 10 days - bit of a cough, fuzzy headed, dozed a lot. I only had to take paracetamol once. I did lose my sense of smell on day 5, but it’s coming back gradually. I haven’t got my full energy back yet, but it can take a while.

Others with the same symptoms are testing negative, probably because their second vaccination was later. It seems the immunity from the vaccine lasts around 6 months, so a booster is needed to prevent infection

Others with the same symptoms are testing negative, probably because their second vaccination was later. - or because they have a different illness or they are part of the 10%(?) or so that would have breakthrough infection anyway.

It seems the immunity from the vaccine lasts around 6 months - Immunity conferred by the vaccine decreases but doesn't fall to zero, or anything like it, and the booster will give you even better, and prolonged protection.

I am reaching out to anyone who has had or is at the moment coming out of knee replacement surgery..I had mine last Thursday 28th October.
I have been trying so hard to do all exercises, icing moving round but today ... Well today I just feel b......d!
Last night I was up and down the bed so many times I think I did a full days exercise just trying to get comfortable to go to sleep.
Oh Blimey if anyone can support me through this ongoing saga I would be so grateful.
I feel a bit Mardy today and need a kick up the prervevial really.
All help gratefully received.

You’d be better off starting a new thread, Jonnie, with a title referring to knee surgery. You’ll get a lot more people with experience of it looking at it then. Best wishes.

I am brand new on this site so how do I go about this please can you tell me.

Just click on Forums up above, Jonnie, then choose the Health forum. You'll then see an option to Start a New Discussion. Click on that. You could then copy and paste exactly what you've posted here into the box, then give it a title relating to knee surgery. Hope this helps.
