Meniscus .. Damage .. Pain..

Awful pain isn't it, especially at night? I've had 3 arthroscopies to repair and clear away damaged meniscus in my knee and have had much pain relief each time for about 8 or 9 years. But the NHS has largely stopped doing arthroscopies now and I've been told that I can't have a 4th anyway. Over the counter pain relief really doesn't help much at all; not even the Voltarol 12 hour gel. I now have low dose morphine patches, prescribed by my GP, and they're helping to keep the pain to moderate. But it's not ideal.

My D is currently suffering from a torn meniscus.
She saw her GP on Thursday and has been prescribed Naproxen and told to take cocodamol
She is icing and resting it and has been told an MRI may be needed but it may repair itself.
It is very painful and debilitating.

Grammy, you need to see a doctor to identify the cause of the pain. My son had a torn meniscus, and it was really painful. He eventually had keyhole surgery.
Good luck.

You need to see the doctor again if it is not healing. A torn meniscus may need surgery to repair or remove the damaged meniscus
