Sorry Luckygirl3 I have no advice to offer but noticed your post unanswered and I’m giving it a bump in the hope someone helpful will drop by.

I hope you find the treatment you need to ease your pain. Chronic pain is so debilitating.

The consultant I have seen wants to view my hip replacement under an image intensifier. The replacement has never been right but all I get from the hospital is that the x-ray looks fine - they pat me on the back and send me on my way, in spite of the fact that I am always in pain and have to walk with a stick.

So - I have seen a consultant privately and he wants to do this investigation, and also to aspirate some fluid to see whether there is a low grade infection.

I will have to pay for this investigation and it is of course not cheap - but no-one at the hospital has been prepared to take it seriously, so, unless I simply resign myself to a life of worsening pain, there is nothing else I can do.

I would be interested to hear from anyone who has had scans with the image intensifier and if there are any people in the profession who might be able to clarify what advantage this might confer - it is a heap of money and anything further I can discover about it will help me with my decision.
