IBS and hypnotherapy

I'm recovering from yet another flare up and am thinking of trying hypnotherapy which appears to have good results. It seems simpler than having to severely restrict my diet. I've already had to cut out some fairly basic foods and would prefer not to go any further.
Just wondering if any of you have tried this or know anything about it?

No I haven't but, I know the more stressed and tense I am the worse the pain is so I can see it could be beneficial

Sorry I've asked for it to be removed, I've lost my navigation buttons and ended up on the wrong thread

Beswitched, I had one ‘attack’ of IBS, when I was going through a painful divorce. It lasted a few weeks….it was horrible….. avoided going anywhere. Spicy foods seemed to exacerbate it. Once I accepted the situation (divorce) and settled matters with my now ex-husband, my stomach sort of settled. But since then, I find my digestive system is very sensitive to even the slightest stress. Sorry I don’t know much about hypnotherapy …

My IBS was driven by hormones pre menopause & is now, from time to time, driven by anxiety. Hypnotherapy therefore might help. Changing my diet was never any help unfortunately.

Thanks. I will definitely look into it. Stress does seem to be a big factor with me so it might work.

I take it your GP has sent you for scans of your abdomen to rule out anything else before diagnosing IBS.

Stress plays a big part in gut problems and food intolerances. I speak from experience sad

Beswitched I would be very interested to know how you get on with hypnotherapy if you decide to go ahead.

Yes I've had loads of tests and everything else ruled out.

I'll post on here if I give it a go.

I had to go completely gluten-free to help my IBS. It helped so much, but realise it does not work for everyone.
