Results from lateral flow tests.

All of recent LFTs have been nostril only. I assume that we are phasing out the nose and throat kits. Not sure about Wales though.

Does anyone know how to ensure that you receive a nostril LFT rather than the one that also includes the throat? (We are in Wales). The throat one makes me gag dreadfully and my eyes stream.

My lateral flow tests says to do both nostrils which I do. It says 5 sweeps each nostril but I do 10 to get a better sample. So far all been negative. Have done 4 PCR tests as had some symptoms but all negative. I just had a cold. But thought it was better to be safe than sorry.

My daughter and family all had Covid in February last year even though I had been with them a lot didn't catch it. No idea why as I have several health problems including heart. This was before I had my first Covid jab.

I do my lateral flow test test Saturday. But since Covid started still take all the precautions and have no intention of stopping anytime soon. It's not just for my safety but for those who can't have the jabs also to protect the idiots who won't have it.

The message has been mixed up somewhere
Lateral flows are for when you do not have symptoms
PCR is when you do
Always been like that but government have made it confusing to many

As far as I know according to the NHS website if you have symptoms it should be a PCR test
Lateral flow tests are for use when you have no symptoms

The same thing happened with my DIL and DGD.
DS tested positive with a lateral flow and DIL and DGD negative.
They all had PCRS and all tested positive.

My dh tested positive and I tested negative although I had all the symptoms - heavy cold, exhausted, headache and nausea. I was really unwell and my lovely dh looked after me although I kept saying “it’s not right, I should be looking after you”. I continued to have negative results which I recorded along with my dh’s positive and ordered two PCR tests which came the next morning. Both were returned with a positive result. My daughter manages a care home and she says the flow tests are not always picking up the Omocron and told me that I definitely had it. Also, she said they had discovered that someone has tested negative when testing on one nostril and positive using the other!!!!She says although some of the latest tests only require the nostril they test throat and both nostrils as they need to be super careful. Just thought I would share that as a thought. Also to say that a negative result alongside symptoms require a PCR.
