Tender glands under jawline

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to ask if anyone else had experienced this problem.
Periodically I keep getting tender glands under the jawline/chin, it just comes and goes every so often. Not related to colds/flu etc, so just a mystery really.
Obviously I will make an appointment to check this out, but wondered if anyone else had this problem.
Thanks

I think its just your lymph nodes doing their job of tidying up your system. If they stay up for a several days or become hardened then get a medical opinion.

Debbidoo, I’ve got something similar on the right side of my face. I don’t know if it’s my imagination. But I think, I too should make an appointment with my GP.

I've had this on the left side for a couple of weeks on and off. At the start of this week I developed what I thought was a cold. My sinuses ache but the jaw pain has gone. Tested positive for covid today.

Hi,

It's not covid , this has been happening for a good while on and off, it's strange how it just comes and goes.

I had the same . it lasted a couple of months. my dentist referred me to the hospital where I had an ultrasound scan . The dentist consultant didn’t think there was anything to worry about and scan showed all was fine. I had been to my GP who thought all was well but recommended seeing dentist just to be sure. It’s cleared up now

I understood it was your glands fighting off an infection, that's what they're there for. Have you tried a lateral flow test to see if its a mild covid infection?

Debbidoo44 do you ever suffer from cold sores? Any time I have one, either on my lip or my nares, my glands always swell slightly and are very tender. I spoke to a GP about this years ago, he said it’s indicating your body is fighting off a low grade infection. Could also be a dental problem?

Also shingles which is caused by the herpes virus.

Grannydarkhair what are nares?

M0nica Thu 10-Mar-22 18:54:20

It is also associated with glandular fever and mumps.

Blossoming another word for nostrils.

Could be stones in your salivary glands, I had this on one side about six years ago, swelling happened anticipating food/eating, then subsided. It was investigated, drinking lemon juice was recommended, sorted itself out eventually.

If you had your tonsils out your neck glands may be taking the strain of the work your tonsils would normally do.
