I recently went to a new dentist who recommends me having a filling replaced, I have a few missing bottom teeth and am nervous about having a tooth messed about with if there is no pain, I recently chipped this tooth but it doesn’t hurt. I think could it cause more problems. Would it affect me going to the dentist if I don’t go along with her suggestion. Probably sounds a silk6 thing to worry about but I am a nervous patient at the best of times.thank you.

I would just talk it through with the dentist they are very good with nervous patients these days.

Why is your dentist recommending removal? I had old amalgam fillings replaced because of the mercury content-is this perhaps why it’s being suggested?

I had a filling renewed last time I went to the dentist. I had a sharp edge which was annoying. The dentist I saw did it without the need for numbing my gum. I'd only gone in for my 6 month check up, so wasn't really prepared for having a filling, still, it was painless.
