Apologies for typos. Thought I had checked but this has a mind of its own.
Is it rude to not finish a book club choice that was selected by someone else?

Hello! ?
Welcome to ? 2!
A huge thank you and well done to Silverlining
for creating the first thread (which I’ll link to shortly)
It was an amazingly successful thread; which was remarkable considering that most of the time it was invisible!
Apologies for typos. Thought I had checked but this has a mind of its own.
It all seems to be very positive Labradorlinda. You are right nit to compare your progress with someone else, we are all different. I used sticks outside fir a while because it gave ne confidence and showed others to keep a bit of a distance.
Glad all is going well and keep in touch.
Hello everyone, I am now 3 weeks post op....where has that time gone? I'm really pleased with my progress so far. Every day is different and I have aches and pains in different places but I'm not worrying about them. I'm still being very careful when I'm mobile and using 2 sticks especially when I'm outside.
I was talking to someone yesterday who was only 2 weeks post op...no sticks, no meds, no limp, no pain. I could have easily got downhearted but no....we are all different and mustn't compare ourselves with others.
Sleeping on my back is getting easier. I have finally sorted out the pillows so I feel more comfortable. However, last night I wondered what the noise was that woke me up...it was me... snoring !!
Keep well everyone.. take care...x
All sounds positive Visgirl.🙂
Susytish.. Same for me Knee first Hip second with quite a recovery gap.
Last Dec my Knee was replaced this Aug my Hip.
TKR is painful , Hip not nearly as much.
The gap in between is frustrating but your body needs that time to recover.
It's hard as you still are in pain, I found getting my knee functioning well was tricky as my Hip stopped me doing so much.
But all History now, still not back to 100% but almost, thb I sailed through it all.
Pain relief, just take what you think works for you, I couldn't take much as they made me ill.
I'm waiting for a particular Personal Trainer to be in contact so I can safely go back to the Gym.
Big smile and best wishes, know exactly how you feel.
Timing seems good susy, you will have recovered from your knee op and feeling much better so you will be well enough to travel before you have your new hip in August. Perfect and how exciting for you, congratulations.
Anything you want to know just ask, there is so much experience on here. Keep an eye out as we are close to the end of this thread and if there is sufficient posting, will need start a new third iteration. Or is that reiteration? Anyway whatever it is we need those dancing ladies that Fanny used last time because that makes it so much easier to spot where we are, or even if we are, on Active at all, and we mostly aren't. Its a mystery to me.
I have loved reading about all your experiences, and have been waiting to find out about a hip replacement.
Today went to see the Consultant and he is recommending doing the knee first! I have been given August for the hip.
So now looking to you guys to give me some hope and advice!
In a lot of pain, have been given Cocodamol, then Ibuprofen my go. I think they have upset my stomach, so just taking paracetamol.
I have taken on board suggestions for nightie over pjs, dry shampoo, Drench wipes etc. so helpful, so will start getting things together.
I am also spurred on by fact my son, who lives in the US, is expecting baby end of May, or rather his lovely partner is!
Hello grandmasue, good to hear your news, and glad you are feeling better post injection. How lovely to see your son and grandchildren.
Just wanted to say don’t overdo things for a few days. It may be nothing but I had a hip injection and it was so wonderful to be painfree I rather overdid things ( walked a lot) and 10 days later was in agony. It was probably a coincidence and I was probably just unlucky but take care.
Good luck with the new diet Regieme, it’s hard I know but oh it’s worth it. Keep in touch.
Well I’ve just had a lovely few days with my son and grandsons from Lisbon. I’ve been able to play games with them and we’ve had a great time playing on the Wii. Of course I didn’t have to stray too far from my chair.
Yesterday I spent the afternoon at the hospital having my injection. It was completely painless. I didn’t have to get undressed and all the staff were incredibly friendly, caring and patient. I was there a couple of hours, but that was for obs before and after. Today the injection site is a bit sore but the pain in my hip is greatly reduced thank goodness. I felt as though I had more energy today and I have done some tidying without getting tired. I also started on my food plan. It’s quite expensive but the meals are incredibly filling. In fact my partner finished off my breakfast porridge and half of my evening meal! I’m going to stick with this for the next 3 weeks and see how I have done with losing weight. It’s Lion Prep if anyone wants to look at it. Te menu changes weekly and you can change meals if you are not keen on their selection. I just chose a breakfast and dinner option as sometimes I get up late and have a very late breakfast.
My eldest grandson has been talking about coming here on his own next year. Well my daughter would bring him and perhaps take him back, he’s 7 and they have about 10 weeks summer holiday. I can’t wait. Hopefully my hips will have improved by then!
I think we will be moving onto a new page soon.
Wishing you all well in your recovery and fingers crossed for up and coming surgery.
Sounds like excellent progress washerwoman!
That is good to hear washerwoman. Glad you are already feeling better. Keep it up. Well done .
Thank you to those that replied last week after my posts about my partial knee replacement. Pleased to say each day gets easier and I'm managing to do the exercises which were just too painful to attempt at first.I've started going for short walks outside with DH for company and significantly cut back my painkillers. Got my first physio appointment at the end of the week.Already going up and down steps feels better than before when I tore my cartilage and was bone on bone.Good evening to all you hipsters and knees.Hope all is going well.
My other knee has moderate arthritis and was very painful 5 years ago and a new knee was suggested but it suddenly got better by itself. Now it has started to give way sometimes but still not painful so suppose I wait and see.
Really hope it stops and starts to behave itself.
Aveline and Susie fingers crossed for you both.
I've still not even tried to have a bath since being unable to get out of one! So embarrassing. My poor DH!
Meanwhile I'm trying hard to ignore increasing reminders that my other hip isn't very happy ☹️.
Glad all is still progressing well Susie. Think we had our new hips on the same or nearly same day? Mine was 13 April.
I have started hydrotherapy to increase flexibility and strength because I still havnt had a bath and really really prefer them to showers which I am having to get used to.. I can get in and sit down, in a fashion, but nervous about getting out but have been assured now I am 7 months post op all will be well.
Hello all hope you new owners of new hips and knees are doing well. Over 7 months now since my hip replacement and I really don’t notice it anymore. Unfortunately my other hip is beginning to get worse but i hopefully can keep it going with exercises and swimming. I’m really not keen to go down the line of surgery yet.
I have had my first gym session with the instructor and was pleasantly surprised that it really wasn’t too stressful. Next one Thursday.
Morning hipsters how is everyone getting on.
Hope progress is going in the right direction and wish you all a good day.
My post above is towards the end of the page. Why it isnt at the top is a mystery. Even if it flies diwn the Active page, at least it should begin at the top. Pressing Post.
Oh my goodness we are nearly at the end of Series 2. Ready fir Series 3. In February this year I knew nothing about my coming surgery, which is why I began this thread.
What a magnificent amount of knowledge and experience we have acquired, to share with others beginning their hip hop journeys, as well as those needing new knees of course.
I will press Post and see if we are invisibke or not. Wont be holding my breath.
Yes Aveline, I used something very similar to Drench. They were great and really freshened me up.
My first shower was in hospital the day after my op! Lovely. However, once home again I used Drench wipes for a while. Excellent. Easy and very effective to use. Another GNer recommended them to me and I ordered them from Amazon. Glad I did.
I personally feel it is less hassle having a shower than a strip wash, even nowadays when I have not had surgery for a while.
Enjoy a snooze, you have earned it!
I would invite you here to enjoy the sunshine but it will be dark soon!
Yes CharleyGirl I will..a rude awakening. My thigh is stiff and painful. I'm not planning on doing anything for the rest of the day apart from my usual routine of walking (in the house), resting, icing/heat and meds.
Aveline...I did enjoy the shower at the time but might have strip washes for the next couple of days...
The first shower and hair wash is lovely!
labradorlinda it is so easy to forget with the grinding pain now gone you still have had major surgery so you were being told to slow down! It takes around 3 months to recover from surgery and a year before your hip is up and running and back to normal.
Please take care.
