Hi Mary59nana!

I had this done years ago. My consultant sang to me and the nurse held my hand and I didn't feel a thing.

Good luck!

I had it done about 30 years ago. I had a nice nurse sitting and talking to me the whole time. It didn't take very long and wasn't particularly uncomfortable. I do remember a slight smell of burning!

Oh thanks you for taking the time to reply I only had the phone call Friday saying it needs to be done and I'm really praying that will be the end of it as I'm 63 and not the dreaded C x

I also had this 40 years ago. I think it was slightly, only slightly uncomfortable but over very quickly. I remember a smell of burning though……x

Good luck, I am glad you can have this done. I had CIN3 cells and the consultant recommended surgery instead.

Do take some soft Dr White sanitary towels from the chemist, the surgery ones are hard and uncomfortable.

Oh thank you ladies what kind of surgery was needed Shandy 37 ?

I’d had CIN3 cells to back in 1989 - had a cone biopsy. There were still some cells when I had the next smear which resulted in laxer treatment. As others have said, a bit uncomfortable and the smell of burning/singeing.

WHY does the phone change words??? Laser treatment for goodness sake - not laxer or later!

I had this in 1986 under a GA. Kiss your worries goodbye. Perfectly fine smear results after that.

Thank you ladies going to bed feeling happy and reassured xx

I had a colposcopy in 1999 when I was 42, and once the samples had been analysed, it was recommended I have a cone biopsy. Unfortunately I bled a lot afterwards and they were quite concerned, I was scared.

I was an older mother at 37 and 39, and my daugher was only two and a half when I developed the precancerous cells.

Have a look at this site, it is very clear. Were you given a leaflet?

I have had it done, don't remember any pain or discomfort just the awful smell of burning. Everything was normal afterward.

I had it done 20 years ago and don't recall there being any discomfort. Best wishes!

I had cryosurgery 42 years ago, abnormal cells were frozen off, I felt nothing at all. I remember getting out of the car when we got home and audibly blowing bubbles much to DH and my amusement.

Thank you all
It was so simple and painless and yes blowing air bubbles was the side effect lol
