Home thyroid test

Cfaz49 I was recommended to use Blue Horizon Medical for a thyroid test. I already have a diagnosis of under-active thyroid but nowadays surgeries don't do the full thyroid panel, just the TSH which is not totally helpful, and I wanted the full panel.

Blue Horizon were very good - just a pinprick test.

Twenty years ago I discovered I had under active thyroid. Felt tired all the time. Doctor wasn’t interested but luckily saw practice nurse about another issue and she ran various blood tests for me.

I'd go for it, then.
It's just a finger prick thing, pack it up and send it off.

I did it when I wanted to see if I may have had covid.

I’m not looking to buy medication online. Just a blood test. I am very rural and getting to the doctors is a bit of an undertaking. If the home test came back as under active I would go to the docs.
I have lots of low level symptoms that seem to point in that direction. However I could just be old!

So you have a good nurse at your doctor's surgery?
I have found them better than my doctor, and ours can,prescribe and order blood tests, too.

Can't you at least get a telephone consultation with your GP?Even if you can't see them, they can order a blood test. What makes you think you have an underactive thyroid? If you start to treat it with something you found on line, you could be ignoring something else that could be treatable. I know - I had tests for diabetes because of symptoms which turned out to be an under-active thyroid, 25 years ago. And I still don't have diabetes.
