So now i've started wearing a mask again and always in Pharmacy where the staff have always done and also in the GP surgery when I've gone to get results or ask about a health issue?

We get a lot of tourist buses going past our house and people on them seem to be wearing masks now.

I am on a coach trip now and NOBODY is wearing masks, not even the driver and that’s 52 elderly people…

More fool all of them!

Also in the hotel must be 300+ people and not a mask to be seen…

Silly, silly people! Ah well!

Will keep you posted..

I’d love to know how many of those people will have covid by next week.

I have been away on holiday for the last couple of weeks so out and about far much more than normal and have seen perhaps a dozen or so people with masks so very few and far between.
Presently in Jersey rates here don’t seem particularly high.

I must admit to being a bit carefree with masks since having my 4th vax in Feb ,only wearing in medical situations when asked and in crowds when feeling uncomfortable.
This week I tested positive and have been quite ill headaches for 2days turning into heavy cold symptoms and very lethargic. Day 6 and I have a neg result and feel to have turned a corner.I do wonder what symptoms would have been without the 4th vax.In Dec I tested positive with different symptoms.ill for 3 days but testing Pos til Day 13.

Viruses are becoming like buses. None for ages and three come all together (corona, monkeypox and polio). No doubt a certain BG is already making progress on his fourth. Or are they just to raise the fear levels again?

We started again this week and thank goodness. There has just been a warning on our local news that one of only two large hospitals in the County is getting overrun. So it will be staying on.
Best wishes to all who have it and are recovering.flowers

Best wishes to your son Farzanah.

WW DH and me had what I would imagine was a 'mild' attack compared to some other poor souls.
However, we had a severe headache, uncontrollable shaking and shivers, nausea, exhaustion, felt like we had swallowed razor blades and consequently both lost 5 pounds in a week due to not being able to eat. I had a severe cough which kept me, him and I fear the neighbours awake for three nights. Goodness knows how people with severe attacks suffered.
Take care everyone.

My son is really quite ill with the Covid. He is fully vaccinated but the problem is that Omicron 4 and 5 is much more infectious, infection doesn’t appear to convey immunity and more easily evades previous vaccines.

Happily, although making some feel pretty rough most do not end up in hospital. I’m still covid free but with 1:25 estimated to have the infection just now it’s probably only a meter of time. I will continue with my FFP2 masking.

Glad that Kate and Whitewave have recovered.

We are just recovering. As I said, DH has had four jabs, me three. We were smug and complacent. This week has been horrible. We are grateful that however bad we felt, it was nothing compared to what those poor folk must have gone through who suffered so badly. Please take this seriously.

Yes, I actually made a big error and forgot my mask going shopping. Result covid!

I echo your thoughts, covid is awful.

Will not make that error again

a bad mutation this time, vacs and immunity are not helping. It gets deep into the lungs.

I’m really concerned about this.

Kate1949 Fri 08-Jul-22 10:14:51

Thank you Bella. We're just starting to improve now after a rotten week.

Chewbacca

It will show what most of us have been warning about for 2 years, that these Vaccines are a slow Death Sentence.

And in other breaking news.....the earth is flat.

Well commented, Chewbacca.

Biscuitmuncher, your comment about catching a cold is truly risible. People don’t die as the direct result of colds. I’ve been having them for years snd 81 years later I’m still here. I’d like to hang about a bit longer too.

Baggs, I don’t hear too much these days from the media reporting on covid statistics, but I personally know lots of people who have/have had covid snd who’ve been very ill.
We DO need to go on being careful, because getting it is nothing like catching a cold (that wasn’t your claim, I know).

Dr John Campbell still gives out regular statistics on his utube blog as does Tim Spector (whose ZOE App data is usually a week ahead of the ONS one even though his government funding has been cancelled).

I was instructed to wear a mask when having a blood test, which I did.
What has annoyed me is an eagerly anticipated group meeting, first one for two years, has been derailed because someone visited their grandchild in a different part of the country and caught covid. She took it upon herself to email everyone, the night before, to say we should all think seriously about attending, wear masks and sit outside, plus testing ourselves. All the risks were considered before the meeting was convened, we are aware of the rising numbers, and she was not planning to attend anyway. Now only half the people are going to attend, which will ruin the meeting.

I know someone who went to a wedding the other week and everyone who attended now has covid. The infection rate is very high.

Farzanah Thu 07-Jul-22 17:15:55

Groups I attend, if they are indoors, will usually test before they attend as a courtesy to others as all are over 60 and some vulnerable.
