thanks all, for your kind words re ringing in ears. I have no idea why it should stop, have not had any drastic changes to my life but you are right Esspee, if I could figure out why it has stopped fortunes could be made!!!!!!

My tinnitus went after I started wearing hearing aids - it was wonderful! After a few months unfortunately the tinnitus returned and has remained.

Shoshana

That's amazing!

I have pulsatile tinnitus (which sounds similar to what you're experiencing Whiff), which sometimes bothers me. However, my brain then seems to adjust to accommodate it, so it becomes less intrusive.

I had that a few years ago and I went and had a hearing test because of it. But I don’t seem to have it any more. I started going to bed with the radio on because of it, which is something I still do now ( in fact it stays on throughout the night). I’m questioning whether I just imagined it. Or if it just resolved itself.

I had a feeling of a bag of liquid in my throat for about three years. I went to hospital appointments etc and nothing was found. I was continually trying to clear my throat while my family kept telling me I would make it bleed. Then one morning I woke up and my throat was clear. I was frightened to say anything in case it came back. The family also said nothing for the same reason. Nothing had changed except for the fact that I had changed from cows milk to Alpro unsweetened long life milk a couple of weeks before.

nanafunny If you have found a way to make tinnitus disappear you will make a fortune.
I can usually live with mine but the minute I get stressed it seems to move up a few gears.
You are very lucky, enjoy the silence.

nanafunny That's great. You must be so pleased. I wish my Tinnitus would go. I've had it 24/7 since 2007.

That's exactly how I started experiencing it, waking up to thumping! So weird when you realise it's coming from your ear.

My tests also revealed nothing untoward, and (touch wood) my hearing seems OK for now.

Shoshana I thought I was weird and it only happened to me . Nice to know I am not alone in this . It happened to me over night . I woke up and wondered what the thumping was . After checking the house realised it was coming from my ear. Sounds daft I know. My late husband would laugh his socks off about it.

After hearing tests I have only general wear and tear and it hasn't effected my hearing. Which I am pleased about .Hope your hearing hasn't been effected.

How I wish mine would go….it’s really loud at times.

nanafunny I am glad you have silence once more. Gives me hope that one day I will get it to. Since having jaundice in 2017 due to 2 tablets I had been taking for decades I can hear my heart beat in my left ear. It's very annoying especially as I can hear when my heart misses beats. Which has become more frequent lately . I have PAF and the tablets had worked and only missed heart beats every couple of days now it's every so many beats. Awaiting 24hr ECG. May just need my Flecainide increasing.

Enjoy the silence.

I've never heard of it disappearing before but you give me hope.

How wonderful nanafunny, tinnitus can be very debilitating. I certainly wish mine would pack its bags and leave. Suggest you enjoy the peace.

Has anything changed in your lifestyle or circumstances?
I had a hearing check-up recently and commented that I have tinnitus which is worse when I'm tired or stressed.
The clinician doing the test agreed that stress can cause it, she said she has it.

Our bodies are strange things, aren’t they? But I’m so glad that your ear problems have disappeared. It must have been a real nuisance . I’m so pleased for you.

No idea, but how marvellous !
I'm sure you will soon adapt to the absence.

I have had ringing in my ears for the last fifteen years. Sometimes worse than others and especially bad when I'm trying to get to sleep.

However, over the past few months it has been less annoying and now seems to have gone away.

Does this happen?

I have got so used to it I'm almost missing the high pitch!!!
