All my phone chats with my specialist are always followed up with a letter to my GP and a copy to myself.

He probably wasn't on a mobile, but using a speaker phone. I've noticed that one is being used whenever I have a conversation with people at the hospital. I find it a bit irritating, but I guess you could ask them to turn it off, if it's making it difficult to understand.

If it were me I’d ring his secretary and explain. You should get a letter in the post but sometimes letters only go to the GP.

I've recently had a phone conversation with a consultant and it was followed up with a letter which went to my GP and to me and covered everything that was discussed including results. Hopefully yours will be too.

Write to him saying you want the results in writing because you did not understand the telephone conversation. Also, you can mull over the results at your leisure if they are in front of you.
