Flu & Pneumonia vaccinations 2022

Had my pneumonia vaccination today and it’s the first time ever that an injection has been painful. And my arm is really stiff and sore. I’m not usually aware of having had a jab at all. Don’t feel unwell at all, though. The upside is the nurse turned out to be a friend from years ago who had recently moved back to the area and when I walked into the room she said ‘I know you’.

Just had flu jab at the pharmacy great service.

Last year I had flu and pneumonia at the same time. Nurse said you only get pneumonia injection once. Just had sore arms. This year it was flu with Covid booster and again both my arms were sore for a few days and I felt tired.

Northernlass Last year I had both those vaccines at the same time and was told the pneumonia one was a one off. Ache in the arm I had the flu vaccine in and cold effects for 24 hrs. That was the same as the previous year when I had just the flu one. Sorry you felt so ill.

We had our shingles vaccination three weeks ago. My DH had his Pneumonia one at the same time. No after effects. However, the nurse checked when we were having our booster and flu vaccines. We are booked for this Saturday and having both at the same time. She said there should be at least a two week gap the shingles and the booster.

I have heard of so many different reactions to these vaccinations, whether they've been administered singly or with another. However, as you say Northernlass it's a small price to pay for the protection we get.

Had both vaccines in the same arm yesterday no problems at all. My three ?offsprings also had theirs and they are fine. Good luck all!

Thanks to everyone for your answers. Seems as though no one else has had the same combination of vaccines, or the same reaction as me. I was back to normal within 48 hours; I feel it’s a small price to pay for the protection afforded by the vaccines!

I had both covid and flu vacc at same time. Aches and tiredness for a couple of days after, but nothing unexpected as my body got to grips with the vaccine. I wasn’t bothered which, or both caused the reaction because I would have them both again when necessary anyway.
Our immune system deals with multiple viruses and bacteria each day of our lives, it just that the covid and flu (attenuated) are injected.

It is the Shingles jab that is offered when you reach the age of 70 years. Also a 'one-off'.

Along with other over 80's at my GP surgery I was offered and received both my 'flu jab and Moderna+ jab (one in each arm) a few weeks back. Not sure why I would need to know which jab (if either) to which I had a reaction. Makes no difference to me. Just pleased to get these both out of the way in one go. Knowing that after a fortnight I would have some protection against both of these illnesses.

I checked and you are right Jax, they must have reduced the age as I remember it being 70.

I got the pneumonia Jag at 55 because I'm diabetic. I was told then it was a one off.

I would never have two vaccines injected at the same time because if one does have a reaction how does one know which drug was the culprit?

If you do have a reaction it should be reported to wherever you had the vaccine, surgery or pharmacy.

I think the pneumonia jab is offered at 70. We were told it lasts 10 years but others on GN say it’s a one off. Either way it’s a good idea to have one.

Had a double jab ( Covid Pfizer & Influenza) on Saturday: sore arms reduced sleep that night. Wish Id taken Paracetemol before and after.
Took life steadily plus Paracetemol the following day as I was aching elsewhere, possibly due to interrupted sleep? After resting all day, absolutely fine from late afternoon that day, and currently.
Have never had a Pneumonia vaccination.

No problem for me with either Covid booster or flu jab. Best to get them asap as the Australian winter has shown flu to be seriously on the rise.

No, I had Covid and ‘flu jabs and just felt a bit ‘off’ for a few days. I had the pneumonia vaccine a few years ago and won’t need to have it again.

I havnt had that problem though tested positive for Covid yesterday same day as I had booster no 4. Don’t think there’s a connection though.
The pneumonia lasts for 10 years so you don’t need to worry about it now.
