Covid or not Covid

Not everything is covid or flu. Why are we only thinking this is all there is. We think covid and flu first, we would never have done this 3 years ago. Not sure about you but I’m pretty mift at being told to have all these jabs that don’t seem to be protecting us

They are protecting many from serious illness obviously.
A simple test confirms it is Covid

It was day 4 when I got a positive test ,my GS had all the same syptoms and he also had a few tests before a positive result showed.He still has the sore head ,sore throat and dizziness That I have but his headache has gone ,its been nearly two weeks for him.I'm hoping mine goes soon ,I hate the dizziness,cant even lie down at night for the room spinning .I'm on day 9 but only 5 days since my positive result ,temperature down today from 39.1 to 35.6 so maybe its on its way ot

I’m not miffed at all Betty65, the message has been that the vaccine will not necessarily prevent you catching Covid, but in most cases will mean a lesser infection and vastly your reduce hospitalisation and death.

I had Covid for the first time starting last Monday (that's when I first tested positive anyway). I looked up to see where to report the positive test, rang them, and was told they couldn't take the result as it wasn't a test given out by the NHS. It's exactly the same brand, although of course I had to buy it as they are no longer free. How on earth can they keep track of how many people are getting it? It really surprised me. I reported it on the Zoe App.

Often you don’t test positive till day 4-5, a friend of my right now is positive and didn’t test positive for 6 days and she is very very ill and may potentially have to be hospitalised. Keep testing.

As I posted my daughter and I tested positive Tuesday both negative by Saturday both had a relively minor illness and under pre covid would have carried on as normal
My daughters husband was quite poorly with it on the Thursday but much better now Infact he is up on a stepladder decorating.
The vacinations have certainly worked.

Unless you get a positive test, I’m not sure you can distinguish Covid now by the symptoms because there are so many other nasty viruses around, including flu. It’s the price we’re paying for staying away from other people for so long. My daughter was really unwell last week, and still has a nasty cough, but she never tested positive for Covid.

The responsible thing to do if in doubt is to test. So man people are not, not isolating either.

On a recent flight I was shocked at the coughing, sneezing and spluttering going on. Luckily the airline insisted on mask wearing for all but I am lucky that I only seemed to have caught a cold from it.

Masks should again be compulsory on planes, public transports and closed, busy places.

Lots of coughing on a recent flight, and OH came out with Covid, for the first time, a few days later. He is just beginning to feel a bit better and cough less. He actually helped me with a few little jobs in the garden today. But it truly kicked him down hard.

Doc said it was flu. Lots of people have had the same symptoms round here. I had by jags a couple of weeks ago but apparently this strain of flu bypasses it.

I still have a cough

I started feeling unwell last Wed. The same symptoms as after my last Moderna booster (4th) in Sept. Fluey, tender skin, chills, headache, just like the beginning of a cold. Thurs neg test but positive by Friday. Husband 2 days behind. Neither of us have had snotty colds, but we have no energy, have been sleeping during the day, (unusual) both have headaches which aren’t relieved by paracetamol. Haven’t lost taste or smell. I’m on day 5 feeling a bit better.
I’m sure we had a different version of Covid pre lockdowns- me sore throat, funny cough, Chills, unwell, unlike anything I’d ever had. Husband just felt tired out and slept a lot. After a week it went for both of us. Then we got into the first “lock down “.

I did know about the delay. I have had a very bad cold a couple of weeks ago which I am must have picked up in A and E when my DH was ill. I tested negative for 2 days so stopped testing. DH didn't catch it but he was in anti virals for something else. I'm wondering.....

I tested positive at the end of July with mild symptoms, slight sore throat but persistent cough but it was the exhaustion that floored me and that lasted for the two weeks before I proved negative. However, for three nights I’d wake in a sweat which reminded me of how the same thing happened at the beginning of the pandemic before regular testing. At that time so many of us were complaining of coughs that just would not go and I just wonder how many of us had Covid then without knowing.

When I had covid last month my symptoms were similar to yours but not textbook at all. No cough for me but sneezing, temperature, sore throat, headache, lack of appetite.
I tested negative at first but after about 3 days, the double line. It was a week of feeling wretched but now apart from more phlegm than usual and puffing when walking up hill, I am not too bad.
At least I've had it now so it's not so scary.
I will have my booster tomorrow.

I had chest infection weeks ago eventually I was given four days of antibiotics which improved my condition. Now I am back to square one a constant cough a runny nose no sleep and my health centre will not see me even though I test negative.

Same here. I probably caught it at singing two weeks ago yesterday (nearly all of us caught it). DH tested positive on the Thursday and stayed in bed. I moved to the spare room but felt grim on Friday tested neg, worse on Saturday and Sunday, still neg. A faint pos on Monday 17th when I started to feel better. Neg last Saturday but still coughing a bit. I am considering myself better and am now out and about. I'm sure I'm not infectious any more.

I have felt a bit off since Sunday did a Covid test it was negative
Still feel over tired and a bit snotty daughter just rang she is positive so I did another test low and behold positive. Oh well that explains the tiredness

It sounds like flu to me. My daughter has had all the symptoms you describe and all her tests have been negative.
At the same time I had Covid , with positive tests. My symptoms were similar but less severe.

I had exactly the symptoms you describe and didn't test positive until day 4 or 5 (sorry, I was too wretched feeling to remember exactly). It took me 10 days to feel anywhere like normal again.

I've had three jabs and was just about to have my forth when I became poorly. If I've had covid before I've had no symptoms.
