Honey and lemon and paracetamol are what we take. There's something comforting about a mug of hot honey and lemon; reminds me of my childhoodsmile.

I'm all for taking all the symptom reducing remedies can get. They do help but don't affect the length of the cold or flu as far as I know.

Same as GB. They help, but don’t cure. Wasn’t there a TV skit some years ago where a boffin claimed, after years of experimentation, to have invented a cure for the common cold - using it, the cold would be gone in 7-10 days!
I love a mug of hot milk and honey with the nighttime doses of whatever.

I'm inclined to think that they help alleviate symptoms so make having a virus more bearable. A virus will 'run its course ' regardless of any amount of pain relief etc but paracetamol will help reduce pain and fever while decongestant will clear your tubes, aiding restful sleep and help your body fight it.

Just that really.
It’s a virus, I’ll live, it will pass but in the meantime…
While remedies like Beechams/Boots/Lemsip flu and cold relief etc can make life more bearable, do they prolong the poorly time?
Happy to go with relieving the symptoms- lots of hot lemon and honey and paracetamol, but do the various decongestant and other ingredients in any way inhibit one’s own immune system now or in the future? 🤧🤒😷
