Agree with MandL that test can be negative for a few days when someone starts to feels poorly, but then shows positive on day 3 or 4, maybe because the virus load has grown.

There are also some very nasty colds going around here - chemist didn't have any Lemsip the other day.

Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

SIL had to go to A And E for a problem but had an awful cold, (sounds very like yours) , they asked him if he’d taken a Covid test he said he had and it was negative, they did a PCR test and he was Positive, he was so ill they treated him, but he was really rough and is just getting over it.
It seems the home tests aren’t always picking up the Positives. Not much anyone can do about it though, unless we all take the PCR test instead of the home tests.
Hope you get well soon

I had covid last week. I’d been testing for a week as other members of the family had it. After many negative tests, I eventually tested positive. My point is that I think many are testing once and then think ‘nope, haven’t got it’, when maybe they have.

We have had it here. It lingers for weeks and the cough just goes on and on. I wondered about COVID but we also tested negative with home tests. Now, I’m wondering if we had it and didn’t realise.

No, I had the flu one a few weeks ago. I know flu when I get it, I'm a veteran of the Hong Kong flu of 1968-69 (off school for three weeks).

Sounds more like flu - remember that?

I just had it for a day on Sunday. I stayed in bed most of the day with a sore throat, headache, generally feeling rubbish. I kept very warm and slept a lot. Lemsip and wheat bag at bedtime, slept well and woke up fine on Monday. Just as well as I had a very busy day. I did a test and was negative. I now have a bit of a throat and a cough but fine apart from that. You need to be well Lady D to write your quizzes.

Tight chest, congestion, cough, maybe a bit of a fever, aches all over.

Recognise this? It doesn't seem to last long but it's nasty while it does. And there an awful lot of it about. I'm feeling much better now but it prostrated me for a couple of days.
