Leg ulcer

Kiwiqueen123 I have Lymphoedema and wear Readywrap compression wraps on both legs. The calf wraps are easy to put on but I can't manage the foot ones so my daughter does them for me. I hadn't heard of the Sigvaris leg wraps but am now wondering if they might be better for me. I'd be interested to know how your DH gets on with them.

I had a bad fall 10 years ago out of my door and where I hit my leg on the door ceil just about the ankle bone it ulcerated . My practice nurse gave me Keramac dressings to use. They absorbed all the liquid coming out of the ulcer and allowed it to dry . Took 5 months to heal. The dressing is dry but has a gel core that swells as it absorbs the fluid. The skin where it was is black 4" long by 2" wide with very thin pale pink scar along the middle.

Thanks for your input. We were seen in the Leg Ulcer clinic on Tuesday. The nurse was lovely and I think its going to be a better service than the surgery. She bandaged his leg twice for compression and instead of compression socks she's ordered something called Sigvaris leg wrap which she said he'd find much easier to apply than compression socks. She thinks it will take about eight weeks to heal the ulcer so fingers crossed. I was a bit worried about the leg wrap as a friend of mine was prescribed them for lymphoedema and found them a nightmare but she's said these are thinner but very compressive.

Never heard of an Unna boot but was referred to Vascular clinic at a hospital 30 miles away for a leg ulcer. After a Doppler test to check my circulation K Four compression bandages were applied. The local preference was for Actico bandages so the district nurse changed to those.

Having just watched the video it looks as though the bandage used is very similar to Viscopaste bandages which I have had applied. I like Viscopaste and it suits my skin unlike a Honey dressing which made the ulcer worse.
