Whiff

MayBee injections like vit B12 should only be given by medically trained staff. B12 does not help in weight lose as B12 has nothing to do with weight. I take a vit B12 tablet everyday because I don't eat red meat. I eat chicken and Quorn. A blood test showed I was low in it plus I take folic acid, calcium, vit D and vit K combined tablet, cod liver oil and vit C everyday.

It just said weight loss on the list, which I then realised meant unexplained weight loss. But any unexplained weight loss needs to be investigated by a doctor. When I worked at the doctors we gave those injections for pernicious anaemia.

They’ll soon change their mind when the have one: they bloody hurt. I only have one nurse who knows exactly where to insert.

The thing is, looking at the list of things the injections will cure, most people suffer from some of them! And the injections might have a cathartic effect. I feel so tired these days I could easily be tempted.

After a friends recommendation, I was foolish enough to do this seven injections at £25 a time, you do the math 🤦‍♀️
And no benefit to me whatsoever…

When it says weight loss it means if you’re losing weight, not as an aid to weight loss (which was an assumption I made due to being on the never ending diet).

I think it is the next big scandal, I have seen one advertising B12, botox, D, lemon bottle, biotin and all via injection. They call it aesthetics, haha a short course and a certificate to inject something into your body.

I don't suppose having excess Vitamin B12 does much harm (I'm not a medic, so maybe I'm wrong), but Vitamin B is water soluble and is excreted, if the body has too much. It seems to me that many people are producing expensive urine!

PS. It's not just young women.

I think you’re right to be concerned MayBee70. B12 deficiency is diagnosed by a blood test. If someone requires vitamin B12 injections they’ll be prescribed by the GP and administered at the health centre. I see this as an unethical money making exercise by the beautician.

I agree with you MayBee. A few local beauticians have been doing the same thing for a while. I'm not sure how much they cost, but it concerns me that people hand over their money for what they think is a magic quick fix.

A local beautician who does Botox etc has started advertising B12 injections. One of the things she lists under B12 deficiency are weight problems. Now, I ‘m terrible for taking every vitamin/mineral going but surely, if you need an injection you should be doing it via your GP and having blood tests? The thing that concerned me was the reference to weight, thinking that many young women will, in their constant battle with the scales, assume they need to have these injections. I found it really worrying.
