Anyone else reluctant to have another Covid booster? Have had them all up to now but just not keen on having another one!

I have never been offered a pneumonia jab and I’m 67. I’ve booked the Covid jab for tomorrow as I’m going to juicy oasis in Portugal (for health reasons, I love it there) in a few weeks and don’t want to get Covid and not be able to go. Job nearly done. Will
look into the pneumonia jab as I dot. Want that again. The longer term damage to my lungs is noticeable.

In my area you have to be 70 to get the pneumonia vaccine on NHS, my sister had hers at 45 different area. I asked my GP if I qualified (both sister and I have severe asthma, history of bronchitis and chest infections) and was told no.

I went to Boots and paid £80 for the pneumonia vaccine privately in January 2020 as the rumours about Covid were beginning.

The Boots one doesn’t cover you for everything. They only told us that after we’d had it done. We’ve since had a better one done at our GP’s. I was really annoyed when I found out! At the time we didn’t want to go to the doctors because the infection rate was so high.

Ah well, that's it done, flu in left arm and Covid in right. What was that song about 'Stuck in the Middle'?! smile

I was invited to come for a pneumonia jab when I turned 65. I live in Scotland

Anyone over the age of 65 can have it. We used to routinely ask people if the wanted it as we had to puta refusal on their medical record ( in case the caught it and complained that it hadn’t been offered to them). It’s a one off vaccine.

Just off for ours in an hour - currently debating arm choices!!

Had my booster yesterday. Slightly sore arm but no other side effects this time. )Previous boosters gave me headaches the next day)
Flu jab on Sat.
All dads care home were boosted against Covid & Flu yesterday. My dad said he felt fine no side effects either.
I would advise having the Vaccinations if you can- we all need protecting from these illnesses

Whitewavemark2 Thu 28-Sept-23 06:51:02

Off to have covid this afternoon.

Whiff Thu 28-Sept-23 06:45:33

Had my Covid booster yesterday and my flu jab Tuesday last week. Both gave me a sore arm . But it's a small price to pay. I would much rather had the jabs to help protect me and my loved ones. Started wearing my mask again yesterday and it will be on until the summer. Helps keep my face warm 😊.

I'm going for my flu vaccine tomorrow. I have my covid booster booked for November. Better safe than sorry.

Silvergirl Wed 27-Sept-23 22:43:46

Sorry to hear you’ve had a stroke Jan16. I can see why you would be suspicious of the vaccine causing it.
I had both my vaccines this afternoon and so far feel fine. I feel the risk from covid is much greater than the risk from vaccine. Hope I’m not proven wrong.

MayBee70 Wed 27-Sept-23 22:43:41

Have you had a pneumonia jab?

Nanatoone Wed 27-Sept-23 22:02:31

My daughter and SIL both have it right now and they are very unwell indeed. I’m wary about having the jab simply because I was poorly after previous covid jabs. I have had Covid so know how awful it can be. It’s a dilemma and I need to just get it done. I’ve had pneumonia this year so come on go get it girl!

downtoearth Wed 27-Sept-23 21:53:01

I had my covid booster yesterday, mild sore arm and tiredness.
My flu vac is booked for 7th October.
I have all vaccines offered for my protection.

MayBee70 Wed 27-Sept-23 21:40:06

Even though I have every vaccine going I do sympathise with people that feel the vaccine has been detrimental to their health. All drugs and medicine can affect some people badly and, just as one of the things that worries me most about covid is the Russian roulette aspect of it the same applies to the vaccine. It’s awful that it’s helped so many of us lead a normal life but has damaged others.

Had both my flu and COVID booster vacs on Monday afternoon. Sites on both my arms were red, slightly swollen and uncomfortable within a few hours. Not sore as such, but it has been difficult trying to find a comfy position in bed, as no matter what there was pressure on a site. Flu site (right arm) is noticeably more uncomfortable today than the COVID site.

I wasn't very clear in my post Marydoll I actually meant I had no justification for my reluctance to have another covid booster.

I am so glad to hear that, I was puzzled. I thought it didn't sound like your usual sensible posts!

Mollygo Wed 27-Sept-23 17:42:51

We had ours yesterday evening. Only a mistake because I was tired at work today. Wish I’d booked Friday.

This thread made me check my status. Like Thorntrees, I will be having my eighth in a few weeks.
I had lost count!

growstuff Wed 27-Sept-23 16:07:12

Covid on Friday and flu on Monday. I was advised not to have vaccinations in my left arm after having a lymph node removed. I wasn't keen on having them both in the same arm. This will be my sixth Covid jab and I haven't had any side effects.

cornergran Wed 27-Sept-23 16:01:16

We were delighted to have our covid boosters last week. A friend has been very unwell recently as have a lot of young ones attending our granddaughters school. It’s still out there and if we can minimise symptoms should we catch it then we’ll be in the queue for boosters. Flu to come in two weeks. No adverse side effects at all from the (Pfizer) covid booster.

henetha Wed 27-Sept-23 15:52:28

There's a new variant around...

henetha Wed 27-Sept-23 15:51:58

Don't agree, sorry. I will take all the boosters I can get. Already have an appointment in October.
