EllieAnneSorry you're not sleeping well. I hope you're still not worried about your family too much though I know it's difficult to do. I hope you will be able to get a good deal with the senior rail tkt and it works out there will be a suitable route to your DD. It would take away do much worry about driving a long distance.

Scaredycat So glad you had a good day out with your DD. Sounded so good. It must be great to be able to do things like that with a daughter. So pleased you managed to do all that plus a call from son. 😊
HVDYYou are so good to your brother, what would he do without you? You have very active GDs - its nice for them to be so interested in a wide variety of things. Firework night must be difficult to get through for those with pets nut Ive often thought about how the wildlife cope too. Do you still get your foxes visiting?

Sweet pea sue I haven’t made a definite arrangement with dd yet. I’m going to get a seniors railcard tomorrow and see if I can find a reasonable train ticket. I managed to keep busy yesterday and had church this morning. Feeling tired because I’m not sleeping well.

HVDY- both my boys loved Football and played very well- now it’s just my eldest but he still has a huge love for the game - we are a “football” family.
What a lovely bonfire night you had - pity for all the poor dogs and cats though. My friends little puppy was scared.
Your brother is a one off isn’t he.As if you don’t have enough to do!! I know you will willingly see your SiL but your brother needs to learn to use the washing machine!! You really are the kindest Mum Wife and Sister.

Candy- it’s great that your GS loves his football. It’s so good for children to take part in any sport - doesn’t matter what it is as long as they enjoy it.
2 of my GGC love it both girl and boy- my GD spends many an hour on the touch line !!
What a good friend to teach you to swim - it must benefit you physically and mentally. When I was younger I could float really well but swam like a brick- what’s that all about?
Nadateturbe-We have 3 book clubs in our WI but think they entail as much chat as book discussion!! I don’t think I could read a book to order. Oh dear that lady would consider me ancient!!!
U3A is really good - so many different interest groups I,m sure you,d find more than one you would be interested in.
You did do a lot yesterday - so pleased you have been able to get out and do some things. Early bed was a good idea and a neccessity I,m sure. Hope you had a good rest.

Been out all day with my DD doing a bit of Xmas shopping. Coffee and cake and lunch as well. It was like old times as it is so long since I,ve done a full day like that. Feet up now though - how I miss my old self but so grateful to be able to still do things like this. DS FaceTimed before we went so a lovely day.

Candy Both sons were interested in football. They set up a Sunday League football team and spent many Sundays following them to different locations. Youngest was 16 at that time. They both played and we cheered on from sidelines (with ears covered!) We once went to the pub with them all afterwards. There came a time though when we knew it was time to leave them to it. They were a great bunch of lads though. I'm so glad your own son is now free from that awful time and is happy with a GF. We can't feel happy unless they are can we?
ScaredycatBusy day in the garden with more planting for you. It will be lovely to see the bulbs come up though. I deadheaded(ouch!) my drooping pansy faces and now, apart from one, its all green leaves. I wonder if it's too cold now for more flowers - what do you think? We had a walk at the beach late this afternoon. Sea a silvery metal grey and no sun but it was good and peaceful.
HVDY I understand what you mean about GDs as they grow up. I hadn't seen my GD from son1 for a while (only 4mths) and I felt emotional when I saw her--she seemed so grown up all at once. As you say--sweatshirts and leggings are the trend for them now.
Nadateturbe I would feel extremely nervous going into a strange group now though the book group I'm in has many new members and Ive not been able to really get to know any v well because of my absences. It feels quite formal in a way and people usually stay seated in the tea break and talk to those sat next to them. The remark about an old lady in her 70s! Sigh. Apart from one lady my age, ish, everyone older in my group. I'm 67. I prefer it when we talk about the book and author. Someone usually does a biography of author and theres talk about context of time it was written. People do digress though. Glad you managed a walk and got to craft fair.
Doodle I do hope your DH is improving with the antibiotics. I feel so concerned for you both. I hope you managed to sleep last night. x
EllieAnne Hope youre ok this weekend. Did you get to see your DD? It must be so hard to drive a big distance now it's dark. I wouldn't feel comfortable on my own at all.
Wyllow We appreciate you popping in at night and just hoping you can talk to someone who understands how you are feeling.

Id had a bad night and wasnt expecting son and fam till much later so was in dressing gown-with no make up when they arrived! They stopped at son 2's so saw everyone next day. We all had walk along beach with GD, GS and son1s fiancé 's little girl. Really good. I' d taken first new AD that morning and felt such a raging headache with sickness had to forego going back for an arranged quiz and drink at son's house. Felt so ill. Didn't take AD this morning in case felt ill again before they went home at midday. Saw them off early afternoon from son's house where they passed on cards n gifts for DH's birthday today. GD loves my sausage rolls so made some this morning and took them.
Such awful pain in night but glad I managed to do what I could and DH too. He will call surgery tomorrow.
I really should tell GP my pain getting more severe and frequent but I dont know what he can do but pass me back to Urologist who just says CPP. It's not.

nadateturbe 2 chocolate biscuits and a glass of milk . I said yes to my brother - although I think he's got a cheek. He certainly doesn't ever bother about me, and he wouldn't be visiting my husband, if the roles were reversed. My GD1 had tries football (for the school), rugby, cricket, Judo and Scouts. GD2 did gymnastics, horse-riding and swimming.

I hate the fireworks and will be glad when they're all finished with. Tonight will, no doubt, be really bad.

On Friday I went to the book group for the first time. I was a bit nervous as I sat there, but it didn't bother me. I listened more than talked, which I think is a good idea, when you've new to something.
The time was spent chatting about other things mostly, which is fine, but I would like a book discussion too.
They were all younger (although one was mid 60s.) Someone made a remark about an old lady she knew who was in her 70s!! I'm 72 😁.
Think I'll try the U3A.
Yesterday we went to a craft fair, and had a seafront walk. Good day, I'm making progress, although was in bed for 7.30pm.

Candy yes, exercise is good for you physically and mentally, if you can do it. Mine at the minute is just walking, I used to love cycling. Its good for children to have an interest.
Your poor dog, some people are very inconsiderate with fireworks. And I think there will be more tonight.

How's everyone's day going? DH and I are having a "can't be bothered day" so have been watching a good BBC drama and generally lounging about (washing, cleaning, etc all done yesterday). Brother has apparently got a stomach bug so has asked me if I'll visit SIL tomorrow instead of him. I'm ok with that - but he's asked me to bring her washing back here and do it. I think that's really cheeky, what do you think?

Hi all, late visit. Had a 2 hour sleep this afternoon so I’m still up. But tired now so off to bed soon.
Nadaterturbe yes I suppose you have to adjust and it’s good that you have. Exercise has always helped me and it’s one of the reasons I have learned to swim because I think you can do tht as you get older. I’ll be forever grateful for the friend who taught me. I really enjoy it too. I’m glad your son is settled too, it must have been hard for you when he sustained his injury. Yes, we have to adapt. I’m not sure if I could have done it without the help of the AD’s though, although I tried. Hope your day has gone well.
HVDY football is not for everyone. One of my brothers loved it, the other didn’t. Football was always around when my DGS was young but he was never pushed into it, he just decided that he liked it and now he’s obsessed! He seems very good, but there are lots of good kids out there and we have no illusions about him “making it”. Be nice if he did of course, but he enjoys it that’s the main thing. All kids find their own thing and I think it’s nice for them to have an interest, whatever that may be. Sounds like you had a nice evening at your son’s. Good to be treated occasionally. Fireworks are a menace for those of us with dogs. Mine is terrified - only the younger one as the older one is deaf and can’t hear them (one advantage of him being older!). I don’t mind when they go off at reasonable times but then you get the idiots who set them off late at night 😡.
Doodle glad to hear things are improve your DH. Hope this continues and you have a good, well deserved rest tonight.

Candy6 Neither of our sons liked football, so we didn't have that, but we used to watch GD1 play rugby (she gave it up this year). It sounds as though your son has done very well indeed to have recovered and overcome his difficulties. You must be so pleased that he's got a nice GF and a happy life now.

Son1 didn't come round, but he rang and he and his GF asked us round for tea, so we went at about 6. He cooked a spaghetti bolognese (no Dolmio sauce like we often do - he does it all from scratch). I took wine and flowers. The dog is adorable, very well-behaved and nice, but the fireworks in the distance bothered her. The elderly cat didn't seem to notice. We left at 9. Fireworks still going off somewhere around here . Hope ALL BDers have a restful night x

Been at hospital all day just got home about 9:45. Going to have a quick bite then off to bed.
DH improved a bit today. Now off oxygen and antibiotics but not up to doing much.

Doodle You must be so shattered. I'm glad your husband is a little better. I hope they find the problem soon and he gets the antibiotics. Look after yourself, don't worry about answering. As Scaredycat said, you are still recovering from your op. xx

No wonder your family is so important to you.
Pets are lovely but they are a commitment.
It's fun sorting through stuff, you always find interesting things and get sidetracked. I'm still fighting the fatigue, I got to book group, more later.

Sweetpeasue I hope your pain is still eased. I too googled your new AD. And it sounds very good. Fingers crossed it does the job. I understand your husband waiting, sometimes we feel more comfortable with certain doctors.
Scaredycat you had a busy day yesterday. But I know that feeling when you get a burst of energy or a "good" day and want to make the most of it, even though it may not be sensible. But it's a good feeling to accomplish so much.

Candy there is so much I can't do because of M.E. I was so active. My life is totally changed. But it's amazing how you adjust to things. (most of the time). GN helps because you hear how other people adapt to change especially as they get older.
You had a lovely time today watching your gs. Memories to cherish. I don't know what illness your son has, but I know that feeling well. My son had a head injury which changed him and I worried about his future. I am so happy that he found a girl who loved him. Your sons GF sounds lovely.
Its sad when children move away. My daughter and GC live in England. My son and other GC do too. I'm in NI. . I haven't seen them for 18 months. I will always wish they lived close and could pop in but I cope, and if its the same for you, you will find a way to have a relationship with them. .

Sweetpeasue it good that your new AD may help with your pain too. A few of them do that which is good. Hope it works well for you. Hope your DH manages to see the GP he wants on Monday.
Scaredycat your image of my older dog waiting for my younger one made me smile because he actually hates him 🤣. The older one is a grump, always has been really but he’s got more aggressive as he’s got older. We love him though and put up with it but sometimes have to save the younger one from getting attacked! You did have a busy day yesterday and I hope you have rested and recouperated sufficiently. Your daffs will be lovely when they come out.
HVDY I didn’t realise you’d lost a brother so young, that must have been terrible for you and your family. Yes these things can certainly trigger a trauma response and can cause much suffering years later. You’ve been busy too. Enjoy your family time if your son comes later.

Been living the dream this morning- stood in the cold/rain watching DGS playing football 🤣 been there, done that a long time ago and now doing it again. Love it really. Got a bit emotional last night thinking how different it will be when my son has children as I’ll be a long distance grandparent then and won’t have nowhere near the relationship I have with DGS now. We’re lucky to have him though I know. I was emotional too when my son GF rang DH and thanked him for all he’d done over the past few days helping them move. There was a time when I thought DS wouldn’t have a normal life and no one would want him because of his illness. I’m so, so happy that he’s got it at last and I’m desperate for it to last for him🤞. Thinking of Wyllow Ellie Anne and of course Doodle. Love to everyone else too. Hope all have the best day possible xx

Doodle I'm glad your husband seems a bit better. Hope the tests soon reveal what's wrong. I hope you can rest when you get home.

ScaredyCat I'd love one or 2 cats, but DH is adamant we can't. He says they might outlive us, but also the cost of looking after them. There's a pale ginger one somewhere around here that I'd love to take in - he must be a stray, his fur is matted, and he's thin (like my Mr Cooper was when he found us), but I haven't seen him for a couple of days, and he runs away if he sees anyone. Hope you had a good rest yesterday.

Hope ALL BDers have a reasonable day, despite the rain. I've been changing the bed, doing the washing, vacuuming. Son1 and and girls might call in later x

EllieAnne- yes a 5 hour drive is quite a way especially in bad weather. Is there a coach you could take? I remember they used to be so much cheaper than the train.
HVDY- you are the same as me - I,ve had cats all my life and never been so long without one. My sister has 2 and would have 22 if she could afford it!!
At least your DH will have a comprehensive set of blood tests but hepatitis?

Been a busy day today food shopping , got some fat balls and a little birdhouse,had a walk and then planted some miniature daffs in the front troughs. One of those days when I knew I was overdoing it but just kept going- taking advantage of a spare bit of energy!! Beyond tired now.

HVDY Thanks, yes new AD is known to also help neuropathic pain as well as depression. Sons1 n 2 and fam have gone to firework display tonight. Apparently Dr DH wanted was only duty Dr today so he thought better about this other trainee Dr. and cancelled. He'll be best seeing one he wanted on Monday. Always feels better after a sort out doesn't it.

Evening all
I’m so sorry not to be able to reply to all but I’m so tired I can hardly keep my eyes open.
Being in hospital all day doesn’t leave much time for anything else. Awful day yesterday but today DH seems to be a bit better .Waiting for tests to see if they can identify the source of the infection so as to find the right antibiotic to zap it.
Please, please take care of yourselves. Thank you for your caring thoughts and prayers. Xx

Candy You're always busy, even on your day off. Hope you and the dogs enjoyed the walk. It's nice that the older one has a rest in the car whilst you continue with the younger dog. I used to get that strange, unsettled feeling when my sons went out to work (when they lived here). I think it stemmed from when my brother died at 21 (I was with him at the time), in a road accident. ADs have certainly helped me, for many years.

SweetpeaSue Did the GP ring back? Glad you've got anew AD. I hadn't heard of that one so Googled it. I wonder if it will also help with your pains?

I sorted out some stuff upstairs - old records, handbags, Steampunk clothes (it was a fad for a while), and discovered old school reports of both sons . Also more old photos. DH cooked a roast dinner, for a change, so that was lovely.

Hope ALL BDers have a relaxing evening. There are fireworks going off around here (I hate them and worry about any animals out) x
