New knee

I have had both knees operated on at different times. I do not wear pjs so I wore nighties in and again when at home for a few days. I took a lightweight dressing gown as it was a hike to the loo. My ward was the old-fashioned nightingale ward.

Good luck.

Don’t worry about it too much daeneke. I had two nighties (whuch I hate!) with me but found I could get in and out of loose bottom pj’s with elasticated waist quite easily if not elegantly the next day. Took wide legged elasticated waist 3/4 lightweight trousers to wear in hospital - their instruction was to get dressed - and a long skirt with an elasticated waist for discharge. Comfortable slip on Skechers dealt with my feet as I find slippers are harder to walk in. You’ll find folk wear all sorts, don’t fret. Once recovered a new knee make such a positive difference it’s all worth it.

I have been told that a knee replacement is unlikely. I hope that’s true. When travelling, it’s bad enough to need assistance.

Nighties in hospital and at home for a while, then back to pyjamas. I bought wide legged trousers which were comfortable over the swelling and dressings for a few weeks.
I hope your knee operation is as successful as both of mine have been.
Best wishes.

After my knee replacements, I wore wide-legged pyjamas in bed and loose tracksuit trousers around the hospital.

I had both knees replaced nearly 18 years ago. One was done under general anaesthetic and the second one with a spinal block. No problems with either except for the morphine making me sick. I think I just wore the hospital gowns. Do persevere with the exercises when you get home it makes all the difference. Good luck!

Sorry, should have said , hope all goes well. I’ve had both knees done and hip replacement just under 3 weeks ago.

Baggy trousers once home.
Nightie in hospital. Please make sure it is long enough to cover the necessities when you cross the ward on your crutches.smile

I've had both hips and a knee done.. Hate them but Nightie are the answer until you get home, then can put on Trousers or jogging pants. Once home, I eventually went back into shorts (depends on the time of year).

Your knee will be swollen for a while, so as the song goes "Baggy Trousers"
Best of luck 🍀

I wore wide legged, elasticated waist trousers when I was out of hospital and cotton nightdress when there.

Nighties definitely easier after both hip and knee replacement.
No bending of legs to get trousers on and off and for the loo.
A loose skirt when I got home.

I've had both knees replaced. Each time I was only away from home two nights. I wore cotton gowns and my underwear, after the op. I advance purchased non-slip socks to keep my feet warm.

My sister found it hot in hospital too, and wore a mid-length crystal pleated lightweight skirt. Elasticated waist. Very easy to adjust etc.

For my hip op I wore loose pj bottoms or tracksuit bottoms with t-shirt I found it very hot in hospital. Good luck for Monday.

Hi- I have been watching and reading about new knees!
I have mine on Monday and quite anxious about it. I’ve just got over a bug which the hospital know about.
Can anyone tell me what you wear after the op around the hospital? Are loose fitting trousers very uncomfortable?
Thanks
