Do you have happy feet?

I have very slim feet which don’t do their job, arthritis and osteoporosis. I wear trainers with arch supports as mine have collapsed. Indoors I either wear nothing or slip ons. A couple of corns I am dealing with. It’s difficult to buy shoes that fit properly

I live in Skechers when I am out which sem to suit my feet but at home I find Crocs are extremely comfortable in place of slippers.

Now I have very happy feet - following an appt with an Ortho surgeon when he diagnosed a Morton's Neuroma. I'd already had a bunion for years.
I had a scan of my foot and a steroid injection.
As recommended by the surgeon I got rocker sold shoes and Birkenstocks. Apparently stiff soles are the thing.
My new Joya shoes (with rocker soles) have revived my feet and taken away all the pain and I can't recommend them enough

My DH said I can get a blister just by standing upconfused

I have miserable feet. They are significantly older than the rest of me.

I have found footwear with arch supports are good for my feet and back. Skechers do arch support trainers now, my slippers are Vionic with arch supports and I have some Vionic boots.

I have the most miserable feet imaginable. can recommend Fit Flop and DB Wider Fit shoes, if like me, you have very wide feet, plus bunions, plus arthritis.
And thankyou *clbm48 *- I've seen recommendations for Skechers before, but didn't know they do wide fittings.

i have happy feet despite peripheral neuropathy.
recently, following a reaction to an antibiotic, i had cellulitus in my big toe (wierd place but whatever) which will probably result in my losing that toenail.
however, my podiatrist comes every 7/8 weeks to work her magic and my toenail will grow again like the recently lost nail on my other big toe.
then i can go back to having my toenails painted again but probably not for several months.

I do have happy feet, no problems with heels.

I love Skechers. They have a new kind called Slip-Ins (as opposed to slip-ons) which you can put on easily without bending down. Bliss! Wish they had been available when I had my hip replacements. They are very comfortable and supportive. Been wearing them for years. They do wide-fitting designs too.

Yes, happy feet here. Thankfully I have no issues.

I do have one weak ankle, though. I twisted it in March and it still aches when I've been on my feet all day. so I'm pretty careful choosing my shoes.

Yes I have happy feet. I wore high heels most of my life and have no problems with my feet. All my shoes and boots have heels of some sort, even if only an inch and they get reheeled when the heels start to wear. My boots all have to be big enough for me to wear thickish socks in them.

The only problem I have is the rate at which my toenails grow - I seem to be forever cutting them.

Another one with healthy feet. I wore high heels for a year but between my dyspraxia, which means I have bad balance and a weak ankle I spent the year either flat on my face or with a sore ankle. The replacement was not flats but small heels, Louis or kitten or whatever you choose to call them.

My rule has always been never to wear shoes if they are uncomfortable or if I couldn;'t walk a mile in them in comfort.

I see lots of older and very old women in trainers, in fact rarely see anyone over retirement age in anything else.

Very healthy feet which I think must be genetic. Mum had lovely feet. I have never had a corn or bunion, the only thing I ever get is cracked skin on heels but a few days on Flexitol foot cream and they’re soft again. I always buy the best shoes I can afford.

Hi DanniRae, my indoors are a pair of sketchers, so comfy and supportive. Just wish that I had bought the slip- ons instead of lace ups , got them in the sale at Pavers. Makes me feel quite sporty as I hoover and mop!

Thank you very much! smile

I tell the older people I meet about trainers.
Not sure I have converted many. Trainers has not been their style, so they tend to stick with what they know.

Sorry, the curse of predictive text. Hoka trainers - not rokka

Iam64 Tue 24-Oct-23 13:41:34

Rokka soles on shoes and trainers recommended by the biomechanics rheumatology expert. My feet are singing

I have very happy feet ,no corns or bunions despite wearing high heels every day since I was about 14,If I'm not in heels I'm in bare feet ,even outside in the garden and street.
After I herniated a disc I asked the phsyio about them she said there was no problem with high heels ,in fact women walk better and have better posture IN high heels .She said there was a worse problem with women who wore flimsy ballet flats and shuffled their feet instead of lifting them when walking

DanniRae Tue 24-Oct-23 12:00:40

Can you tell me what light weight trainers you wear indoors, please?

tanith Tue 24-Oct-23 10:12:38

I’m barefoot or in flip flops much of the time but I find slippers become loose very quickly so tend to wear slip on Skechers much of the time indoors and out.

Luckygirl3 Tue 24-Oct-23 10:07:53

Step ladders?! - I wish!!

annodomini Tue 24-Oct-23 10:02:05

I have always had happy feet which I put down to the fact that I was living in a hot country and wearing sandals and flip-flops when most of my contemporaries were struggling in stilettos and winkle pickers. However, since peripheral neuropathy hit my toes and travelled upwards, I've been less comfortable. To add insult to injury, I have a bunion. This is what happens when you turn 80? Luckily I can go barefoot much of the time and have a collection of well-fitting Hotter shoes when I'm out. I have also found a first rate podiatrist.

keepcalmandcavachon Tue 24-Oct-23 09:32:52

I don't generally ( Arthritis) however, since I'v swapped my sloppy slippers for lightweight trainers at home I have at times become almost nimble, haha. Far better on stairs , stepladder etc... I am so surprised at the difference it's made! Might be worth trying , take care everyone.
