For the support, understanding and sharing of mental health issues.
All are welcome. We treat each other with kindness.

nadateturbe Mon 29-Jan-24 22:45:48

Doodle and Sweetpeasue thinking of you both with your pain. I hope the zopiclone helps Doodle. But if it doesn't ease in a few days, maybe get it checked? And I hope your pain eases tonight Sweetpeasue and tomorrow is a better day.
HVDY that was nice of your neighbour. Try not to eat them all at once! The chocs, not the flowers grin.

Sweetpeasue Mon 29-Jan-24 21:56:05

Doodle
.Can understand your worry of DH starting with this awful cough. Do hope your pain is a bit better tomorrow and you both sleep better tonight. X
HVDY Thanks. Glad your a little better. You must feel quite fragile though. So nice to have a good neighbour -she will know how good you are with cats.

Night all -hope you sleep well.

HowVeryDareYou2 Mon 29-Jan-24 21:16:57

Doodle I hope the Zopiclone helps your husband tonight. All your coughing may indeed have strained a muscle or 2. The Paracetamol is probably the best thing to take. There's this "100 day cough" going around at the moment. I hope you haven't got/don't get that.

SweetpeaSue What a horrible way for your FIL to end up. Poor man. I think it's probably more commonplace than we realise. June until your urology appt! Perhaps you'll get a cancellation (fingers crossed) before then. I hope all goes well with the Psychologist tomorrow. Do you write things down so that you remember what to say or ask?

nadateturbe Post when you feel up to it, we understand.
ScaredyCat Hope you're having a nice time with your son.
EllieAnne, Whiff, Candy6, Wyllow, and others - hope you're all getting on ok.

My neighbour came across at lunchtime, with a bunch of flowers and a carton of Cadbury's Heroes, to thank me for looking after Pandora smile. I've felt a little bit better today, so changed my bed and did the washing. Then I sat around for the rest of the day. Still feel shaky. Love to ALL x

Doodle Mon 29-Jan-24 20:28:57

Hi all. Spent a lot of yesterday coughing. Woke up today after lunchtime nap and was in agony. I think I’ve pulled all the muscles in my back and chest through coughing so much yesterday. It hurts when I move and as for bending forwards that is so painful. I’m going to have some paracetamol and hope it wears off. Funny enough, the cough has been better today. But DH has started coughing which worries me.
nadateturbe you post when you can and that’s fine with all of us. If you’re too tired that’s ok. Just nice to hear that you’re still with us just like it is to have a nighttime message from Wyllow. We all care.
Sweeptpeasue I now have the Zopiclone so we will try that tonight. 13th June is still a way away but at least you have a date. Hope you get to see the consultant you want.
Scaredycat hope you’re having a lovely time with your son.

Sweetpeasue Mon 29-Jan-24 19:10:36

Nadateturbe You are not depressing me. It helps to know we are not alone.

nadateturbe Mon 29-Jan-24 17:35:18

somewhere there has been a positive.
This what I try to think*Sweetpeasue*, probably like yourself. Sometimes you don't have the energy to cry, although it does make you feel better.

Such a long wait for you - June. I think if doctors had time, we might feel better
Sorry, I will be depressing everyone.

Sweetpeasue Mon 29-Jan-24 17:10:50

EllieAnne Hope you're brighter today now the night has passed.
HVDY Hope your kidney pain is lessening. Also that Pandora makes a fuss over you too! DH still putting off GP appt.
Doodle It's awful that the RLS is back again. Sorry about yet another night of it. I found Zopiclone good for sleep in the past-hope this helps. Appt made with Urology dept-13th June!. Can't risk not seeing the Urologist I want(8 in dept, though perhaps diff dys) Thinking private but not decided who to go for yet as been v bad day. Thankyou for your caring. I know you understand.
Nadateturbe You are often on my mind. To have something with no cure is a desperate place at times. I wish I had your faith. Of course I'm not saying that makes your physical pain easier. Hope that's understood. Hope you will be feeling better v soon.
* Scaredycat* Hope you're enjoying all that lovely special fam time, all together

Sorry not addressing everyone. Taken so much meds today. Bowelbladder tog. Feel abandoned by Dr's. They don't have time to deal complex cases. Tears are no good but sometimes need that release. Hoping to get to psychologist tomorrow. He was going to help prepare me for Thursday appt with pain management-but only meant to see a physio anyway.

Hoping every one of you has had a decent day today and somewhere there has been a positive.x

.

nadateturbe Mon 29-Jan-24 16:10:11

Good Sunday followed by rubbish night. Half asleep. Oh well, yesterday was good, have to be rhankful.
I'm afraid I'm not very consistent in keeping in touch.
Thinking of you all. x

Doodle Mon 29-Jan-24 09:24:51

Ellie Anne it’s a shame you didn’t have someone to talk to. Hope you can chat to a friend today. Sorry you’re having problems in church again. It should be a place of peace and sanctuary. Nights can be long when you’re awake a lot.
Sweetpeasue DH is now off the Mirtazapine and on to Zopiclone (which is what I asked for in the first place) another night of being awake a lot and having restless legs.
Sorry about your FiL. Sad way to go.
Usually outpatient clinics are either just one Consultant or a Consultant and associated Doctors. When arriving for the appointment ask if you could see the one you want to see. They may say patients have already been allocated a doctor but you could still say would they please ask Dr X if they will see you as you really want to see that particular doctor.
We had this when DH visited haematology. One Doc we didn’t want to see but kept being allocated to. We always asked to see someone else as soon as we arrived. No guarantee it will work but worth a try.
nadateturbe so pleased you had a better day and managed some painting. Thanks for the advice about the neck pain.
HVDY I think you’re right about the drug needing longer to work but as I asked the GP for something that would work now, it seems a bit pointless. Spoke to another GP today who agreed it was not the one for DH. You really are into your painting kits now aren’t you. So nice to have a hobby you enjoy.
Glad you’re feeling a bit better today.
We are waiting for DN to come

HowVeryDareYou2 Mon 29-Jan-24 08:09:08

SweetpeaSue I hope you manage to persuade your husband to see "your" GP today instead of leaving things until te end of the week. I hope your pain has eased and that you hae a better day today.

Doodle I haven't heard about Mirtazapine causing RLS, but your husband had that before, didn't he? With regards to making him sleep better - I think perhaps it needs to be in his system for longer. Steak and chips for dinner - you're looking after him well. Better than hospital food! (although I found the food to be pretty decent when I was in) Hope you're looking after yourself, too.

nadateturbe Glad you had a better day. What are you painting? Sorry if you've said before. I'm waiting for a painting kit to arrive.

Wyllow3 Glad you're still posting. Hope you're looking after yourself.

EllieAnne Hope you see someone today for a chat.

My kidney pain is a bit less this morning, so far. I've fed Pandora, made a fuss of her. Hope ALL BDers, new and old, manage to have a decent day x

nadateturbe Mon 29-Jan-24 01:56:37

EllieAnne sorry you're feeling so bad. I hope you get to talk to a friend in the morning. xx

Wyllow3 Mon 29-Jan-24 00:19:18

Well I can offer a goodnight, to you and all BD's xx

Ellie Anne Sun 28-Jan-24 23:39:49

It’s one of those nights when I want someone to talk to and friends are in bed. It’s been a long day and church was difficult. I thought about the Samaritans but I m ok just stressed and lonely.

nadateturbe Sun 28-Jan-24 21:58:55

Gosh, you've all been so busy posting. Will get back tomorrow. Today was good so I painted, not much energy left.
Just wanted to say to Doodle I was told cold pack is better for cervicogenic pain. Sometimes heat is better..
I was also given simple exercises and yes, the pillow is important. Sleeping position can make a difference.
Thinking of everyone and hoping your night is peaceful. xx

Sorry for your pain Sweetpeasue. I hope your husband changes his mind, probably feels like he's a nuisance, which he isn't. We all hate to bother the doctor.

Sweetpeasue Sun 28-Jan-24 21:31:19

Your kind words appreciated so much Doodle thankyou.
I really hoped the Mirtazapine would help-hadnt realised side effect was RLS. Your poor husband can't win it seems. So many meds and side effects. Do hope he manages sleep tonight , for you both.
Thankyou for understanding. My FIL admitted to hospital (already had dementia). Acquired CDiff in hospital . Terrible diarrhoea. He stopped drinking or eating. Mind deteriorated quickly. I didn't know had bedsore(anus). Told by Dr's eventually no hope. Disgraceful. Hospital coroner knew and wanted post mortem. His daughters wouldn't agree. They should have been held responsible but I was just DIL. We saw him every day for 2mths in hospital and DH crippled. People with dementia are so vulnerable.
Hadnt realised I could ask for named Urologist. So encouraging and good to know, thankyou.
Take care of yourself and wishing you a good night.x

Scaredycat my DH has just started Lansaprazole too.
I’m still coughing a lot but feel better. How lovely to see your son interacting with his family. Must warm your heart.
Sweetpeasue I’m so sorry you’re feeling bad again. I understand not feeling like posting when you’re really low or in pain. Unsure about the Mitrazapine. It doesn’t seem to be helping him sleep (which is what I asked for) but his RLS has started up again for the first time in ages (a known side effect). Will see what tonight brings.
Of course you should post. Tell it like it is. No need to hide here. Since being in hospital with DH recently and seeing his frustration and anxiety with all that’s going on (hospital induced without going into detail) I realise even more how you must feel also having things happen to you caused by others and having to live with the consequences. Really brings him down and I can see how it affects you too.
Perhaps another chat with the GP about your DH and his head pain. You could always ask to see a certain consultant when you go for your appointment even if you’ve been referred to the team. DH always has to ask to see his named haematologist out of the group. It usually works ok.
You’re right about the need to keep going for each other.
Ellie Anne Im glad you’re not going. It’s too stressful for you. At least your son is gojng with his dad so that’s a good thing. DH was on Omeprazole till he went into hospital and they changed him to Lansoprazole for some reason.
HVdY ooh Pandora! A very exotic name for a cat. Sounds loved and pampered to me.
DH prefers cheesecake for pud
But does like pasta and potatoes, he is eating reasonably well. Steak and chips with cheese and biscuits to follow tonight,
Glad you’re feeling a bit better and had a little visitor to cheer you up.
nadateturbe DH has a bad neck too. Due to sleeping awkwardly I think. I might try a cold wrap.
Hope the nausea wears off and your ginger biscuits help.
Whiff Doctor said the same to DH about note drinking too much water.
Wyllow sleep tight. xx

Sweetpeasue Sun 28-Jan-24 19:30:29

HVDY I've had pain during the night and wasn't better till around 10 am. We then went out for a coffee and intended a beach walk this aft(when tide right) but had bowel pain all afternoon.
I think it strange these headaches have come on since having Polymyalgia too. At the Rheumatology appt a nurse said the pain in his temple would be further down(though DH said she'd only pointed about half inch further down).
When he gets them he's left with this thick 'foggy' feeling and he slows down with everything, he doesn't seem able to concentrate, it's strange. Been upset tonight as he said he'd see 'our' GP tomorrow but wants to wait till end of week. 😡

HowVeryDareYou2 Sun 28-Jan-24 18:56:03

Whiff I knew about that for the bowels but not the bladder. I'm only 5ft 1! I never used to get these UTIs when I was young. Damned things. Men don't seem to get them because their anatomy is different to ours, of course.

Whiff Sun 28-Jan-24 18:49:04

HVDY I forget to say I was given a good tip by a nurse when you go to the loo make sure your hips and knees are in line that way you empty your bladder completely helps your bowels as well. I have an ease toilet looks like an ordinary toilet but taller as I am only 5'2" I use a toddler step to put my feet on. I needed the higher toilet to beable to get on and off easier with the aid of a handle on my wall. I was told this after 16 courses of antibiotics because of recurring UTIs and kidney infections.

HowVeryDareYou2 Sun 28-Jan-24 18:47:58

Thanks, Whiff. I'm on 2 x 500mg Cefalexin for 7 days. I've had about 4 pints of fluid today, so far (3pt of it water). I know that low Sodium can cause problems. I've had a kidney infection once before, and forgotten how lousy it makes you feel.

nadateturbe I'd been having nausea with this kidney infection - but luckily, not much ever puts me off my food for long grin. I've been eating very healthily today. Hope your head pain stays away.

SweetpeaSue I hope you're having a better day. I wonder if you ought to insist on some tests to see if your husband has got Temporal Arteritis. It does seem to be a coincidence that his headaches began when he started with Polymyalgia. GPs don't know anything more than "everyday" issues, unless they're experienced in a particular condition.

Hope ALL BDers have a cosy evening x

Sweetpeasue Sun 28-Jan-24 18:30:25

HVDY Hope the slight improvement has continued throughout your day and your back pain is a little better too. It was awful that you needed to travel to be seen though. Thank goodness you got seen to and could start the antibiotics.
I was thinking about Temporal Arteritis and asked GP last time we saw him but he said DH's pain would be in one side. When I googled it I'm sure it said can be in both temples. Whatever it is isn't right.
Nadateturbe PALS help can be v helpful for certain problems though they are definitely on the Drs/hospital's side with serious complaints as I had before. I don't think they can help as I'm not under the Urologist but only being referred by my GP. The previous Urologist that did the distention passed me on to Pain Management. I hope your head pain has stayed slighter better. You must be exhausted. I understand concern about becoming more reclusive when you've not been able to socialise or just get out for a while. I couldn't go to my book group last week, but part of me felt relieved I didn't need to make the effort to put a face on.
Doodle Hope you and your DH have had a quiet day and your cough isn't still horrid. I hope you've managed to sleep and it's not kept you awake.
Scaredycat Wishing you a lovely time with all the family and just don't forget to rest when you can.
EllieAnne Hope the weekend isn't too bad for you. It must be a relief not to travel all that way for the funeral.
Wyllow Thinking of you as always.

CandyWhiff and everyone reading with troubles, hoping you get a break for a peaceful night.

nadateturbe Sun 28-Jan-24 18:03:11

I'm glad you're OK on your antibiotics HVDY. They often cause reactions.
I've been given penicillin capsules to take if a cyst doesn't heal up. They're huge. Pharmacist says I can put the powder in yoghurt. I hope it heals. I hate taking pills.

Whiff Sun 28-Jan-24 17:44:14

HVDY only 2 antibiotics work on me Cefalexin is one of them but I usually have 500mg 3 times a day for 7 days. Having a kidney infection is like being cut in half . Be careful how much you drink . I usually have 8-10 drinks a day but I upped it to 12-14 a day but my GP told to go back to 8-10 as I diluted my sodium levels to much . I thought the more I drank it would dilute the infection but I caused more harm to myself .

Hope you feel better soon.

HowVeryDareYou2 Sun 28-Jan-24 15:11:51

I've been ok with the antibiotics, thanks. I'm allergic to Penicillin, so am on CEFALEXIN, 500mg twice a day. My kidneys are painful and I feel knackered but am drinking a lot. Glad you slept well last night.

nadateturbe Sun 28-Jan-24 10:38:56

Good morning everyone. I slept well last night. smile
HVDY thanks, not just me then - missing the socialising.
A cat cuddle is lovely. I like when next doors cats visit. They are very at home in our garden.
Glad you're feeling a little better. Nausea is an awful feeling. Have you been ok with the antibiotics?

I too thought about temporal arteritis with your husband Sweetpeasue. Hopefully it's not, but the GP should be checking.
