My late sister in law was given so much radiotherapy that she developed heart problems. She was told that if the cancer came back she could not have more treatment.

She died very suddenly of a heart attack aged 66.

Whiff

Suzieque my friend had a lumpectomy and pre cancerous cells removed and lymph nodes and now has lymphoma in the breast . Which she has to massage it started month ago. But no cough or scarring. Did you use Aqueous cream before ,during and after radiotherapy ? mom had 2 mastectomies and used Aqueous cream no scarring my friend did to . Both my late mom was on teamocksofen ( not spelt correctly so did it as it sounds ) for 5 years and my friend is on it for 10 years she only had her operations last late summer. But you need to get in touch with your cancer nurse or McMillan nurse if you have one.

Tamoxifem? A friend of mine was on this.
What does your GP say OP? Were you told to expect a cough?
If he doesn’t know you should be referred back to your consultant.Good luck with it all.

I have scarring due to radiation treatment for Breat Cancer .. has anyone any advice as to my perminent cough ? ... I am on Daxas and an inhaler but the cough persists ...

Suzieque66, I have a mucus cough since chest wall Radiotherapy for breast cancer in 2018. It was investigated by various respiratory tests and a high resolution CT scan. The findings being: a collapsed area on both lungs called Atelectasis, Bronchiectasis and Dysfunctional breathing! I was supposed to have Respiratory Physio but lockdown started, so I have had no Physio, but did try a medication which had intolerable side effects and preventer and reliever inhalers which made no difference AND my cough persists! Happy for you to PM me if you want to discuss more.

I googled this and it stated that the cough caused by the scarring should ease gradually as the scarring heals.... I suppose you know this already though....

I don’t have advice apart from talk to your doctor, consultant or Macmillon nurse however do you mean internal scarring that is causing the cough, or do you mean skin scarring or do you mean you have two separate problems, a cough and breast scarring ?

Please discuss the cough with your doctor.
I'm sorry about the scarring from your treatment for cancer but hope the treatment was successful.
Someone may come along soon with info re scars.
