Has anyone opted to get the shingles vaccine privately in this age group ? No health issues but I know a few people who caught it before being vaccinated

Not yet - but I know someone who has just had shingles in this age group.

My cousin had it and was in a lot of pain. I've booked to have the vaccine at Boots because I care for my mum

I've booked it. Seems expensive but I can't risk being poorly for a long while

sevenhills I don't blame you having them as you can't risk getting shingles.. I put the price incase anyone else wanted it done privately. I was 65 in April even thought I have a rare hereditary neurological condition and hole in my heart and PAF I can't get it on the NHS . But can't justify the expense of having it. When I looked after my mom them I would but was to young so would have paid to have it . But can't remember if it was available from 2007 until 2017 to buy.

My son had shingles in his early 20's said he had never known pain like it.

All 5 of my grandsons have had the chicken pox vaccine so they aren't at risk of getting shingles in later life . You can only get shingles if you have had chicken pox. As the virus stays dormant in your body and they don't know what triggers in to give you shingles . My nan had it 3 times and was very ill each time .

People I know who have had the vaccine don't feel very well for a few days after it.. But like they say it's better than having shingles.
