Paramedics put elderly falls at the bottom of their lists. There have been articles showing that some people have waited for 24 hours for a saviour to turn up. Some areas won't do it all. Many years ago, in Sussex, we used to have a dedicated team which just attended falls. It was disbanded!

it would be unwise to purchase specialist equipment and attempt to use it without specialist training.
could be a waste of money at best, and harmful to you and or her at worst.
you need professional input.

i suggest you call 111 if it happens again.
you shouldn't try to lift her yourself.
it's no good trying to discuss it with her, she cannot help with the problem.
has a social services needs assessment been done ?
i presume you are her carer, what about asking GP for a referral to community OT.
all the best

It depends on how much you want to pay out! A Mangar Elk or Camel are designed to help people up off the floor but are over £1,000 new although you can sometimes get them on EBay far cheaper,
You have to be able to shuffle onto them and then have the balance to stay upright whilst they inflate though.

They have an inflatable cushion lifter on ebay

but don't care companies just ring paramedics out who have their own equipment/

Please do not try to lift her yourself.. I know that when someone large and heavy fell over in the hospital I worked with that we called the Fire Brigade.. maybe a choice for you..

This fact sheet, from Age UK, makes helpful reading

www.ageuk.org.uk/globalassets/age-uk/documents/information-guides/ageukig14_staying_steady_inf.pdf

Called 'Staying Steady' it has 40 pages of advice, including how to help yourself if you have a fall.

Tell her you cannot/will not try to lift her yourself.

Not with a car!

Mum is a dead weight! I'm struggling to get her off the floor and Friday night I called my sister for help, even her husband who is fit, struggled to get her up.

Eventually we got her up. She thinks it's funny. Sister here yesterday and mum just shrugged it off, saying I'm making big deal of it. Sister has told her, if I wasn't here, council wouldn't want her staying here alone.

I've googled to see if there are any chairs or something to lift her off the floor. I've found one On Amazon, £468, it says free delivery but then says postage of £168 i think.

Anyhow, on more searching,.folk have used bathlifts to pick up elderly.

Do any of you have any ideas of how to get mum off the floor. I'm by myself, in a small home. She REFUSES to part with stuff as it was her parents and she's of the generation nothing to be chucked/sold.
