I had this procedure last year, I hope that I can reassure you a little.
It was not too bad at all, the numbing gel that is applied first caused a bit of a stinging sensation, but I certainly didn't feel the camera go in.
I didn't need a catheter and I don't remember that even being mentioned as a possibility.
Hope it all goes well for you flowers

I had one a few years ago and was not looking forward to it either. My experience was just like NanaK, after a tiny bit of a sting I really did not feel a thing. I then actually watched the process on the screen, something I didn’t expect to do! Hope it goes well for you x

I had this procedure back in march.
The numbing cream applied and straight in with the camera.
No discomfort while the camera was inside.
I was asked if i wanted to watch ,i did and was really interesting i had a lovely nurse standing next to me explaining where and what the camera was doing.
I had been suffering from reacurrent pelvic pain and utis on and off for months.
The cause of my problem was found which i could see, ... on one side of my bladder it looked like tiny grainy rash.
I was told i have Interstitual Cystitus .
I will be haveing a followup cystopothy
In december.
The only side effects i had was uncomfatable for a few hours but fine next day.
I was given one antibiotic tablet before procedure.
I was told by the nurse that this helps to prevent a uti .
Good luck😃

I have had one of these annually for the past five years. Back then, it discovered a growth in my bladder, which was (a few weeks later) removed. However as there was possibility of it growing back, I am summond to the hospital for this procedure to check on it.
When |I went this year - and no regrowth - I was told next year will be the last year they do this test as if it does no grown back in five years, there is little chance it will do so.

It is slightly uncomfortable, not the nicest of tests - but no real pain. Staff have always been loved and one nurse usually holds my hand through and I am able see the screen as to where the camera goes.

Best if someone can take you home afterwards, I get a taxi back. Then do need to take it easy for the next day or so. Do remember to take in lots of fluid (water preferred) over the next few days.
