Covid jab?

Can I ask, those of you who are booked in, are you over 75?

I’m not there yet (age) and don’t think I can book in yet.

Well ladies, some very interesting views. I chose not to have the covid jab, whilst dear hubby did. We both caught covid a week apart but strangely the horrid virus followed the exact same trajectory for both of us! Same exact symptoms & same exact longevity. I would however always encourage those with health to be on the safe side.🤔

I take whatever is offered as I also think if I catch Covid it will be a milder form if I have had the latest vaccine.

I have always had the flu jab and my feeling is people who think they have had "a touch of flu" dp not know what they are talking about. With a proper dose of flu if there was a £50 note at the other end of the room you would be in no fit state to pick it up.

I get a reaction every time, nothing dangerous just the flu symptoms but enough to put me to bed for 24 to 48 hours. Still going to have them though because I have had flu twice and it was awful. Never has covid, touching wood, and don't want it....there is also the thing of protecting the other people who for one reason or another cannot have one or the other vaccines.

About 6 weeks ago my son in law, then my daughter and 4 month old grandson all caught Covid. My SIL tested as his office has a cupboard full of tests. They were really ill and I had to spend time looking after them and my 4 year old granddaughter who didn’t get it. Of course 3 weeks ago I caught it, I was so ill, vomiting for days, high temperature, terrible headaches. I am still not over it, awful cold, cough and blocked sinuses.
I have my flu jab in 3 weeks they haven’t mentioned the Covid one but hoping I can have it. Definitely don’t want this again.

This. The second time I had it, I was a fit healthy adult. DH had to go into work and left me tucked up with everything I needed for a couple of hours....except I needed the loo. I had to crawl to the loo and crawl back because I was too dizzy and unwell stand and walk. Luckily I managed to pull myself up to sit on the loo. The first time I was a teen and had hallucinations.

its for over 65s or the vulnerable on the NHS but I believe that you will also be able to buy it.

I was offered a booking for early october by my GP surgery yesterday, am 71. Unfortunately its a weekend when i won't be able to go so will be waiting for the national appointment scheme to roll out from 23 sept.

Oh that’s good, I am over 65. I was told the spring booster was for only over 75s.

Not me. I had the first one and then the booster, no side effects. But I haven't had any since. Never had a flu one (the docs do phone to offer it) or anything else. I once had flu many years ago, but rarely get so much as a cold now.

My OH on the other hand takes every jab going, he's been to have the RSV one this morning. Usually starts getting colds as soon as he has the flu one, so another couple weeks before that happens.

Last time I was in bed for nearly 3 weeks and felt wiped out for several months, thought I had long covid but the GP just thought I has post viral fatigue. So am not looking forward to the next covid surge this winter. At least I qualify for a flu jab.

I’m 76. I’ve been offered both the RSV and the COVID/flu vaccines. None of my over-80 friends have been offered RSV.

I take everything offered. Most of the time, I feel unwell for a day or two and have a sore-ish arm for a few days more

No thanks. Had the jabs, caught covid twice but just like a cold.

I'm having both together in early October. I'm lucky to have no bad reactions yet.

I have just checked - it is over 65 and those aged 6 - 64 in high risk category

I'm 65. I was offered a flu vaccination by my GP surgery, which I have booked for Oct 5th. No mention was made of Covid. I will ask when I go if I haven't heard anything before then.

I'm so lucky - never had a reaction and the only time I got Covid, I didn't know I had it until I had to have a test prior to having a small procedure in hospital.

I have decided after much thought I will not be having either, if I change my mind it will be the flu jab.

I wont be having another Covid jab, i felt so ill last time.

All booked in in October. I usually have a reaction to the flu one, though DH does not.

I read that RSV is only being offered to those aged 70 - 79.

I usually have a reaction to vaccines for a couple of days, lethargy, pyrexia, sore arm etc. all to be expected I think and nothing serious. I’m not concerned because it shows my body is responding to the vaccine.

Much worse to get the actual illness, with chance of long covid. Covid is not a winter bug like flu. There have been a few surges throughout the year, but it is only able to be monitored through hospital admissions testing. (Independent Sage) Scotland were doing waste water testing, but think this is suspended just now.

No, it’s 75-79. Over 80’s it depends when you turned 80.
