That's so lovely to read.

Small things that make you feel happy
It is a rare bit of good news that Melania Trump had published in her book that she supports and always has supported women's rights to control of their own bodies, and therefore supports women's right to abortion.
That's so lovely to read.

A heartfelt thanks to everyone for your kind and thoughtful words. They have meant the world to me. I have taken photos of your lovely comments and will keep them to look at when my soul needs soothing.
Many thanks. ๐๐๐
Whethertomorrow, I hope the support you have had here has helped you. Hugs and
from me too.
Whethertomorrow, my heart aches for you. Clearly the trauma has remained with you . I sincerely hope that by telling us your story you now feel less distressed. 37 years ago and I bet it feels like yesterday! You were in a shocking situation and made the correct decision - I send you big hugs and hope you are ok . ๐๐๐๐

Surely, abortion must be preferred to bringing an unwanted life into the world.
In a world that is already overpopulated, every baby born should be a loved and much wanted one,
I completely agree

When I was a teenager we lived next door to a single man who we presumed to be gay. He never had a girl friend or even a female acquaintance. We eventually found out that he had indeed once had a girlfriend. They both had dictatorial mothers who both wanted to keep their children tied to them and wouldn't permit any sort of relationship. Of course the girl got pregnant, dared not tell her mother, and went to a backstreet abortionist which was the only option in those days. When it went wrong she was dumped on her own doorstep to bleed to death. Whatever one's feelings about abortion, no one deserves to die like that.
Thatโs utterly horrifying and very sad

All previous Republican party presidents' wives have been pro abortion. In Trump's case Melania's statement is probably just a political attempt to increase potential Democrat voters' chances of voting for repulsive Trump.

I think that anyone making the decision to terminate a pregnancy deserves understanding rather than judgement. The only person who can know if it's the right decision for a woman is the woman herself.

Thank you for the flowers, but I'm not speaking abut myself here.
I feel for anyone who has decided not to go through with a pregnancy, and as someone who worked with young people for years have spoken to several who came to that decision. Their reasons were varied. Sometimes they appeared to be cloaked in bravado, but who knows - we can't see into the minds of others, and even if we could we'd have to realise that their minds don't necessarily work in the same ways as our own.

Life is never straightforward, it can be messy, some people can become pregnant very easily, it's not always planned, not always conducive to their lives, sometimes it will be ruinous, they're too young, they're too old, they're too ill, too addicted, too abused, too downtrodden, too poor, maybe a mother to too many already, it may break them, may affect them both physically and mentally, sometimes that pregnancy has been forced upon them. Lets not judge our fellow women for having to make what is no doubt a very hard choice.
Well said! ๐

Iโm sorry you had that sad experience, Whethertomorrow.
Iโm guessing you didnโt have any counselling at the time? If thatโs the case, itโs never too late to talk to someone about it and maybe make peace with what happened.
Despising someone for making a decision you wouldnโt make isnโt helpful, though. It wonโt matter to the other woman what you think, it only hurts yourself. I think if someone makes a decision like that itโs better to consider that perhaps they didnโt have the ability to take any other path, perhaps because of their upbringing or lack of imagination.
Whether tomorrow so sorry for your traumatic experience
It must be so hard to make this decision, and even harder to go through with it, and then live with what has happened. A friend had an abortion when she was seventeen, under intense pressure from her family - the father had walked away, uninterested. I met her years later when we were both regularly waiting at the school gates, and she eventually told me that it had been the worst day of her life, and she thought about that child constantly. What a burden to carry.
It's Trump's strategy to appeal to women for their votes. I hope they are not fooled.
Wethertomorrow (((hugs))) and

I despised her to the bottom of my soul and still do
I'm sorry you had this experience, it sounds awful. That person you despise may have been econimical with the truth.

It's not only illegal abortion that's the risk, vulnerable young women have killed themselves because of unwanted pregnancy & too scared to tell anyone & they can't see a way out.
Do people who don't agree with abortion also agree with the two child benefit cap?
Itโs rarely a straightforward decision. It has to be available without judgement
Yes Iโve known a few who had more than one but judgement wouldnโt have helped where good contraception might have
