Back pain

Hi. I was getting my granddaughters bedroom ready on Friday as they were coming to stay for the weekend. I suddenly had a sharp pain in my left buttock going into my groin.
I’ve never had this before. I’ve spent the weekend and since in considerable pain. Does it sound like sciatica ? Ive been looking on the NHS website, but it says sciatica goes down the leg, mine doesn’t. Although my left leg aches.
I’m reluctant to start the excersises incase they’re not the right ones. I’ve been going for short walks which seem to help.

Oh bad luck - back pain is horrible.

But this does sound a bit as though it might be to do with your hip.

Thanks Luckgirl23. It couldn’t have happened at a worse time. Think I’d better see the GP if it’s no better in s few days.

Yes definitely. Hope you get it sorted.

I have had a back problem (and had disc surgery) and also hip problem, and the latter is the one that caused groin pain.

I have groin pain if I move suddenly. It can leave me gasping! Apparently caused through muscle atrophy in my case as I waited years for hip replacements and could barely walk. I use a topical oil which contains turmeric which helps. Hope it heals soon, very painful for you.

Leave it a week- that's my rule. If it isn't better I go to the GP. I haven't been to my GP for almost a year.

If you can sleep with the pain is another one, if it keeps you awake despite painkillers then get help.

I once hurt my back and went to see a recommended chiropractor. I went in bent over and came out standing upright! The best £50 I ever spent. Hardly any other back pain since.

Thank you. The chiropractor sounds great keeping quiet. I suppose it’s all about finding the right one.

I had a recommendation from a friend. Check the GP first though- mine just gave me painkillers and a sick note but I didn't want to spend time off work!

It may have got better on its own but I wasn't preared to wait.

Hi just an update. I sent a patch form in to the GP describing my symptoms on Wednesday. I had a reply the same day to say I could see a physiotherapist today ! Excellent service.
Been this morning. Apparently my hips and mobility are good. But when she touched my lower back I screamed out, especially since I wasn’t expecting it. I have inflammation In my lower back. Have exercises to do and go see her in six weeks. Should be feeling better by then 🤞 Thank you ladies.

I had something similar, physio treated if successfully.

It was GTPS, here’s a link.

I hope Katyj hasn’t been suffering for 3 months. She posted in Oct. 2024 😥
