Having watched the 2nd episode of Michael Moseley's "Just one thing" series, I'm planning to teach myself to sketch.

Pencils, sketchbook & beginner's guide arrived today. Will make a start tomorrow. As I'm recovering from hip surgery, I have plenty of time to practise!

What do you plan to change or take up?

I like drawing. What is the book called and would you recommend it?

I listened to the Radio 4 series and bought the book some time ago. One thing I shall not be doing is having a daily cold shower! Most of the suggestions I was already doing, like squats and leg strengthening exercises, standing on one leg to brush my teeth, taking an early morning walk, extending overnight fasting, drinking plenty of water, getting some sun every possible day, soaking in the bath (my favourite pastime), reading, napping after lunch and more.

I don't know the series, but I do believe simple changes can benefit us in the long run. I recently bought a cookbook that has high fibre recipes.

Adding fibre to your diet can help with cholesterol levels, manage blood sugar, and keep your intestine and bowels healthy.

I took up sketching 18 months or so ago! Its a lovely hobby, I recommend the Loomis method which has lots of free videos on the internet and anything by The Addictive Sketcher who also goes on The One Show too, and there are lots of clips online & he runs free short courses occasionally and a paid course which is great but £40 a month, which I found too much.
I loved Michael Moseley but won't be having cold showers anytime soon! I do have a high fibre diet though & love it, I have umpteen health conditions including digestive ones & I find wholemeal sourdough most soothing, but not that you get in supermarkets as they add chemicals, but that from a proper baker. It helps loose weight too, it makes you feel full cos all the bran is filling, but it never enters the rest of your body, it comes straight out the other end.

If you fancy doing watercolours as well as sketching, you might like to check out Anna Mason. She takes you through each painting with step by step videos. These are a couple of mine that I did using her videos, and I'm not good at art.

Fancyflowers, those are wonderful watercolours! I dabble a bit, but end up getting frustrated when drawings come out looking much worse than anticipated!
